The museum was fabulous, that was my first visit and it preceded its reputation. I was impressed with the introduction to the entrance to the museum. Before I describe my experience at the museum, I must give kudos to my professor Ms. Narayan, who prepared the way for us to attend the museum. There was no hassle in the parking lot or no confusion at the designated meeting area, all was on point. For that I say thank you, Dr. Narayan. I drove up to the parking lot and all was taken care of, after identifying myself the arm went up and I pulled in. Reflecting on my museum experiences this museum is one of a kind for (STEM) science, technology, engineering, and math, keeping up with the 21st century. The Perot Museum introduced exhibits that are full of technology, videos, and history. I was really impressed by the names associated with each exhibit hall. Science is being introduced in a way that is captivating to all people, young and old. I observed a majority of older visitors during my visit. The museums I have frequently visited I find mostly Caucasian, Oriental ethnicity, or Asian. This is the percentage across the board. This summer I visited five different museums in the Tri –State: Indianapolis, Kentucky, and West Virginia. I could count the African Americans that were in attendance at any given one of the museum. I saw mostly Caucasians and Asians visiting the museum with their children; rarely did I see any Hispanics or African Americans visiting the museum. At the Perot Museum, there were a large number of Caucasians and school age children. The time I was there the attendance was not heavy, but I could tell as the day wore on the attendance picked up. I observed more adults compared to children there. If I had to guess, I would say the Perot Museum is a fantastic learning and discovering museum. My overall experience at the Montclair Art Museum was very positive and I enjoyed observing different works of art. It was interesting to see the different mediums and themes used for different works of art. The Tampa Museum of Art was not always the same museum that we see today. It went through multiple stages throughout the years. The works vary, creating a large spectrum from the old to the new. The social angles change with the exhibits in the museum, combining to create the diversity we see today. Visiting this museum in person helped me to appreciate it even more than I would have thought possible. Observing and analyzing the other visitors helped me to understand the museum’s impact on the community more than I would have been able to just by reading about it. This museum is much different from others than I have visited.
From that point on there’s a digital interactive guide that displays the layout of the museum and location of the exhibits. The museum is divided into quadrants with an elliptical rotunda in the middle. The rotunda is illuminated by natural light from the glass dome with skylights above you. Also when you look up you can see extraordinary symbolic painting on the ceiling. From the center of the rotunda you can go left or right to see the exhibits of Native Americans. For some reason I felt like going in through the left, aside from the fact that the right side was closed for renovations. In conclusion, visiting the History Museum of North Carolina was a great way to experience world culture. The assignment was truly amazing, because I went with purpose, and new look on the influence of the world’s culture today. It is very surprising to find so much of the world wrapped into one big melting pot. You experience the world around you outside of your textbook, living room, and computer. The people living next to you, and even in your very house makeup the different cultural aspects of our community.
As we reach the museum, the exterior was very beautiful. The first things I saw were the bronze statues in the front. We took a couple of pictures in front of them and in front of the Norton Simon. The entrance where the glass doors had sat was very unique and elegant. The glass walls that the glass doors were attached to, added to the elegance and beauty. When I had first walked in, I was very shy, timid, and unwilling to go on, this was due to the more mature audience that I had seen when I had first entered the museum. I was still unsure on how to act in a museum, being this my first time, so I was very calm, cool and reserved, but as time went on I saw college students my age probably doing the same thing I was doing. So I then I felt more at ease. Plus my girlfriend was with me so I was not alone.
The first museum, we entered was very small which was called “The Stockyard Museum” like a corner store size. This museum was based on historical events such as cowboys , native Americans, chisholm trails and the north/ stockyards of fort worth history. The old man we talked was very nice which I didn’t expect based on his body language, however he introduces us on what to expect and a scavenger hunt for the items in the museum; which was pretty cool because we actually to go around and take us to read everything because he was going to go over it with us afterwards. ‘New museology’ is the concept of modernising museums and making them more interesting and interactive for the visitors. The District Six Museum is a good example of new museology because it is a relatively new museum that was started and run by the community, not the state and it is very different to older museums. It is very appropriate to have a museum like this in South Africa, because what happened in District Six should not be forgotten and museums like this one encourage people to visit them and find out more about what has happened. Part of new museology is to teach people more about what happened in the past by using more interactive displays; the District Six Museum does this by using a range of interesting and interactive displays.

A museum gives us insight on the culture from an out standing point of view, and the things we are shown are supposed to be looked at from the outside. The people who decided what things to exhibit did not belong to that community saw it, and decided what they considered is different to what we are used to, and what we would be interested in learning from that. The display of things in a Museum are things that we look at as something that is outside from normal. In contrast to the movie or movies, where scenes substantially show how the person felt and dealt with situations and tools from their own perspective, with their own knowledge and experience and through different means such as real images, sounds, language and others produces a different knowledge on the racial discourse. My trip to the Getty museum was filled with anticipation and an unknowing of what Iwas actually searching to write about. I went on a Friday at about eleven but the museum was still full. It took about twenty minutes to find parking, the wait in line was long, and the tram had so many people it felt even hotter then it actually was. But overall the experience was fun. I enjoyed checking out the works of art and watching the classes of elementary students learn about the history and culture in the room. On one occasion I was very surprised because a mother asked her daughter, who could not have been more than six, about a painting was which she correctly identified as Vincent Van Gogh’s Irises, which was great because I never knew about Van Gogh at her age.

A museum is “a building in which objects of historical, scientific, artistic, or cultural interest are stored and exhibited.” (dictionary.com). This is the literal definition of a museum as well as my view of them coming into my first semester of college. I believed they were boring, outdated places where historical items were displayed. As I moved through the semester, my professor helped me gain a new perspective of these remarkable museums; one of respect and astonishment. Museums are meant to aid in learning and safeguarding of things that should never be forgotten. Of the many great places I visited this semester that adjusted my feelings towards museums, the ones that had the greatest impact were The National Museum of Natural History, The Newseum, The National Gallery of Art, and The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. These places are there to remind the general public about things that should never be forgotten; they preserve the history and beauty of the world.
The inside of the museum was intense because you walk into see two huge dinosaur structures in the front. There were also many entrances to different exhibits on top the entrances were enormous murals depicting various things. The murals showed all of the cultures around the world. All of the cultures are able to mix in with each other. For instance, the mural on top of the Asian Peoples exhibit was showing the many different Asian cultures such as Japanese, Korean, and Chinese mixing into one huge mural. There was the mural on top of the African Peoples exhibit that included prominent animals such as, lions and elephants.
