As agriculture students at Oklahoma State University, it is very important to understand the history behind the establishment of our institution. Attending a land-grant university is certainly unique, but what does it mean? This paper will discuss the legislative acts that organized our university, as well as other agriculture and mechanic schools across the United States.
Iowa State University is a land grant school which, among other things, means that the university gets money from the state of Iowa from the taxes that residents pay to the state. Because of this in state residents who choose to go to the university do not have to pay a large amount of money while out-of-state residents have to pay almost twice as much. Iowa State University does not have reciprocity, meaning that even residents from the surrounding states, Minnesota, Illinois, etc., have to pay full out-of-state tuition. Out-of- state residents have to pay about $9000 a year for tuition, while Iowa residents pay only about $2500 per year. (See fig1 for semester costs)

When I found out I qualified to be a candidate for the NJHS, I knew I had to take this chance. This group is made up of people who depict leadership, character, citizenship, academic success, and service and I would love to join. These characteristics wouldn't just be valuable for a candidate to have, but for everyone to have to exceed in life. If I were to be in the National Junior Honor Society, it would give me an opportunity to ameliorate my future and motivate me to do better.

Everything comes with a price, especially college education. The University of Iowa’s webpage, 2013-2014 Undergraduate Cost of Attendance states that, “these expenses represent average amounts” (3). Most costs vary depending on duration and living plans for the students. For a student living on campus, the estimated total price is around $20,691. Tuition fees, and housing and meals, normally add up to be about $17,485, out of the total. Then there is the books, personal, and transportation fees which end up being $3,206. For many families, that ends up being quite a bit of money. But both schools allow the use of financial aid or even loans to pay for the college education.

As a student at Northvale Public School, I have grown up with my older siblings being inducted into an organization called the National Junior Honor Society. I had seen all the hard work and dedication they put into their school work and activities just to get into this society, making me want to be just like them. Then a few weeks ago, I found a note on my desk in homeroom telling me that I had been nominated to be apart of this society. Through citizenship and character, leadership, and service, I intend on being inducted into the society I have heard so much about. Though it will take a lot of effort this school year, being a part of this society is a dream of mine that I will make sure to come true.
The advantages that college athletics bring to a university’s metaphorical table are numerous. Promoting positive character development, creating and endorsing unity, and supporting college experiences and traditions just scratch the surface of the deep impact that athletics have had and continue to have on higher education. The important influences that college athletics carry with them are unquestionable, even to opponents of college sports. Critics will always have their views, facts, statistics and reasons on why college athletics should be taken off a positive pedestal or even completely banned. No system or organization is flawless and will always come with a few hiccups along the way. But despite those, college athletics will always remain an integral and a valuable part concerning their role in higher education.
At the start of the semester, my oblivious state of nature associating with the Chinese culture reached an unacceptable level. Implementing a necessary change, I decided to educate myself on different cultures starting with China. I failed to ponder that such a rich, deep culture existed outside America. Encompassed by this country’s unique yet suffocating melting pot culture, my outlook believed ideas such as uniformity between American Chinese food and Authentic Chinese food. After this course, my bigot perspective widened as I witnessed diversity in the world. Before this class, when I thought of Chinese food, my connotation jumped to thoughts associated with chop suey, but as I progressed my education, my mindset gradually pondered foods like steamed buns or “New Year Cakes” with authentic Chinese food.
They are only a two year school so I will not be getting a Bachelor's Degree there (Nelson, Sherryl. Personal interview. 1 Dec, 2017). The campus I would like to attend to is in Stillwater, Oklahoma right next to Oklahoma State University's campus. Although tuition is more expensive at OSU, NOC will only cost me about $8,750 for the full two years (Nelson, Sherryl. Personal interview. 1 Dec, 2017).
Hesiod’s Theogony and the Babylonian Enuma Elish are both myths that begin as creation myths, explaining how the universe and, later on, humans came to be. These types of myths exist in every culture and, while the account of creation in Hesiod’s Theogony and the Enuma Elish share many similarities, the two myths differ in many ways as well. Both myths begin creation from where the universe is a formless state, from which the primordial gods emerge. The idea of the earth and sky beginning as one and then being separated is also expressed in both myths.
The state that was chosen for this project is Delaware. Delaware is a small state located in the Mid-Atlantic. Delaware is usually referred to as the first state, because it was the first state to sign the constitution. Delaware can also be called the Blue Hen State because the blue hen is the official bird of Delaware, and because of the blue hens that Delaware soldiers carried around during the revolutionary war. Delaware even has a third nickname, the Diamond state, because Thomas Jefferson said it was a “jewel.”
IUPUI is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, so it’s in-state, so it’s cheaper than the out of state schools, and it’s a public school so it will be cheaper than a private school like Notre Dame. With everything that’s required,and without scholarships it costs about $22,387 to go here for in state students, and around $43,937 to go here for out of state students. The housing there is usually around 2,500-3,000 dollars, unless you’re renting a room at an apartment near the school, then it might be around 4,000 a year. The place I would like to stay at IUPUI would be at the old hotel that they turned into housing for university students. It’s also a pretty decent sized school with about 22,525 undergraduate students and about 8,165 graduate students, so a total of around 30,690 students. This school really isn’t that old, in 1968 mayor Richard Lugar called for “a great university in Indianapolis”, so then they Established IUPUI in 1969. When the people created this school it merged Indiana University and Purdue University’s many programs and degrees into this one school.
