Hello, Dr. Honore, and Readers of the Journal Entry

We are now at the mid-term of this course and I agree that we are progressing. The interesting challenges are embraced. I hope it will remain so as the course unfolds further. This unit’s Journal Entry, as usual, documents my learnings, my feelings, my reactions and my thinking towards this week’s learning concept.

This Week’s Tasks

This week’s task is less difficult as the previous challenging ones. I strongly believe the reason for this is that I am able to master the approaches I take in tackling each task. Parameters served as part of the interface of a subroutine or method (Eck, 2014). Although I am not a beginner, the fundamental meanings and application of parameter with respect to methods or subroutine is a necessary thing to know. I am very grateful for this. The reading assignment makes exclusive elaboration of the return values and Application Programming Interface (API). I realized that the requirement asked for the program were already implemented in all my previous programming assignments. For instance creating a subroutine and calling a method from another subroutine and so on. These methodologies were already done by me in my previously submitted works. That was why I felt my previous works were too overdone. The programming assignment completely encompasses the parameter and subroutine topics that were read in the book. The palindrome programming assignment was challenging and interesting.

One particularly challenging aspect was how to get rid of all entered character from the user input that is not letters ranging from “a-to-z”. I was able to make use of the hint provided by the instructor in the learning guide to get rid of those unwanted characters and thereby stripping the user inputs.
