I interviewed Quang Le. She is working in the beauty industry. Le is the owner and also a nail technician at Da-Vi Nails in York, Pennsylvania. I met Le in early November 2015 through her co-worker, my sister. We keep in touch through text message until I was able to meet with her during Thanksgiving break. Le has worked as a nail technician for almost nine years and has opened her own shop for five years. She told me that she get involves in this field when she first came to the United States 9 years ago, by a friend of her mom, who introduced her to the field. To become a technician, she first had to go to a beauty school for about three months. Then she had to take a written test and a technical test to get a license. According to Le, personal qualities that one should have to be successful in this industry are patience, outgoing, and creative. As it is a service field, one must be patience and outgoing to interact with customers and be creative to do the actual job. …show more content…

Other responsibilities include cleaning equipment, the salon, and pay her employees. Every month, she has to buy additional nail supplies and pay utilities and other expenses. The biggest challenge about her work is sometimes she has to deal with difficult and bad-tempered customers. Moreover, what she enjoy the least was long hours regularly and in holidays and unhealthy environment of the job.
