The NHS England research tactics is supporting the development of research within the NHS in order to improve the quality and the health outcomes of the treatment delivered. Evidence based research is the fundamental operation of the NHS and all the treatment decisions that may be affected from culture, communication, mental health or other possible factors are being considered. The investigators is a scientifically qualified team that is able to conduct the research. It is comprised of two professors, a social worker, an assistant professor and a research consultant all of them qualified to contribute to the research execution in several aspects. The purpose and hypothesis of the study are stated clearly, to examine the degree to which perceptions of open communication between patients and staff affect patients’ mental health. They hypothesize that quality interpersonal relations between patients and staff have a beneficial role on patients’ health. The physicians will be common to all patients in order the staff-patient relationship to be examined not to be biased from other doctors and staff. Ms. Bardsley functions as a hemodialysis liaison and leader in clinical practice with the following roles: charge nurse, preceptor, and mentor for her colleagues. She is the resource person for the Hct-Line monitoring tool. The tool is used to monitor patient’s fluid removal during treatment to avoid hypotensive episodes associated with decreased perfusion to the heart.
