Introduction/Goals and Expectations Statement:

September 5, 2017, was my first phone call my mentor who is Audrey Caldwell. In our first phone call, we introduced ourselves and then discussed what the mentor program entails. I had asked Audrey where she works and where she lives and learned that she lives in San Francisco. She had mentioned that her first job was in Texas after she graduated from the University of Arizona and she explained that she did not enjoy her job, which is why she transferred to a different job in San Francisco. I then discussed my goals in school and my future career with my mentor. I had expressed to Audrey that I want to have a job that involves more creativity than finances. Audrey had mentioned that buying can be perceived as fun because of the decision making that is done but she also said that being a buyer involves a lot of analytics. I had also discussed with my mentor that my short-term goals are getting more involved in the clubs offered through my major. She then mentioned how she was on the student advisory board and explained how being involved helped her gain connections. Audrey, had explained how she got her job through networking and the reason she had chosen that job was to get away from the job she had in Texas, so that she could explore the opportunity of a new job position in a new city. She had also mentioned that she applied for the Macy’s internship when she went to school at the University of Arizona. She mentioned that she was panel interviewed, but successfully was offered an internship through Macy’s. We then discussed life after graduation, and Audrey had expressed that she did not enjoy her first job at Macy’s that was in Texas. My mentor had expressed that it is important to enjoy your job, because if you do not then it will affect your happiness. We then discussed
