This paper focuses on human trafficking, a domestic and transnational crime in which the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) played an instrumental role in solving. Moreover, it contains four sections which include, a definition of human trafficking, tools used by Interpol to tackle human trafficking, a discussion of 3 cases within human trafficking in which Interpol played a significant role and final takeaways.

However, this definition is vague and requires decompartmentalization. Thus, Feingold (2010) offers another definition that is more pragmatic. According to The Global Alliance Against Trafficking in Women (GAATW), human trafficking is "all acts involved in the recruitment and/or transportation of women, men, or children within and across national borders for work or services by means of violence or threat of violence, abuse of authority or dominant position, debt bondage, deception or other forms of coercion" (Feingold, 2010, p. 66). Furthermore, there are three main types of human trafficking: labor trafficking, sex trafficking, and organ trafficking. Interpol adds smuggling of bodies, money laundering, and fraudulent travel documents as other "red flags" for potential human trafficking activities. Moreover, Interpol focuses on "bridging" with organizations that specialize in tackling human trafficking. For instance, today it is has formed a collaboration with the following agencies: Europol, Economic Community of West African States, Eurojust, Frontex, Economic Community of West African States, International Centre for Migration Policy Development, International Centre for Migration Policy Development, International Labour Organization, UK Missing Persons Bureau, Organization for Security and Co-Operation In Europe, Southeast European Law enforcement Center, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Organization of American Studies and UK Missing Persons Bureau.
