“The ability to discipline yourself to delay gratification in the short term in order to enjoy greater rewards in the long term, is the indispensable prerequisite for success.” –Brian Tracy. Too many of us are giving into instant gratification every day. Instant gratification is when we give ourselves short term fulfillment, without thinking of the future affects. The problem with instant gratification is that it’s keeping us from getting what we really want out of our lives. We do things for short term pleasure: Spending our time watching television, instead of learning and improving ourselves. We spend money on things we do not really need, instead of saving. Eating junk food and put off exercising, instead of disciplining ourselves. While giving ourselves a little instant gratification is not bad; too much can keep us from achieving our goals in our lives. We want to be successful, follow our dreams, be healthy and happy, but are often tempted to give in to the momentary satisfaction too much, instead of focusing on the future results, and big rewards down the road.

I have realized that throughout the day I eat a lot of food that is not the best for me. In the morning I usually eat something real quick out of the microwave, because I’m in a hurry heading to work or school. Another time is when I’m on a break from school or work. A lot of times I end up settling for fast good because it’s close by and I don’t have much spare time.
