The airplane has affected human life in several areas, including the transport of goods internationally, the world of politics and meeting people from other countries. It has reduced travel time from one destination to another, affected the costs people are willing to pay for transportation, and changed the experience of traveling by offering luxuries that are not available in other modes of transportation such as vehicles, trains or boats.The technology is more effective on the airplanes, it makes the flight comfortable, fast and safe. I use the airplane when I need to see my friends and family in my original country (Iraq).sometimes I use my cell phone to search for the affordable prices that I can get to plan for my flight
World War One was known as the war that would end all wars. At first, airplanes in the war were thought to have just little combat use. An unknown British general even commented, " The airplane is useless for the purpose of war." In the beginning of the First World War, the airplanes were pretty simple and raw. By the end of the war, aircraft had become more advanced and had split off into fighters, bombers and long-range bombers. The specifications of the airplanes were changed to meet the war's requirements. When the War started in August of 1914, British airmen were associated with the British army and their commissioned officers had army ranks. Before the United State’s declaration of war in 1917, American nationals had enlisted in British and French air services including the Lafayette Escadrille. By the time the war ended in November of 1918, the Royal Flying Corps no longer prevailed and was absorbed into the recently developed Royal Air Force. The Royal Air Force now had its own command structure away from the army and provided its own ranks.
The First World War was monumental in history because of all the new technology that was introduced. One particular area that developed during the Great War was the use of airplanes by the German and Allied militaries. In comparison, they both had different mentalities towards an invention that was only made successful less than a decade before the outbreak of war in 1914 by the Wright Brothers in North Carolina, United States. The German Military welcomed the idea with open arms, investing in its potential for military uses, whereas the Allies remained reserved and hesitant, claiming that aircraft could not be used for anything more offensive than reconnaissance missions. These differences in opinions later affected the development of each air force. The German military kept making consistent improvements to their equipment whereas the allied pilots were slow in their respective air force evolution. However, there was a common progression that both militaries had which was the slow phasing out of the cavalry on either side due to the effectiveness of the aircrafts reconnaissance and battle capabilities. During the World War One, the German military took advantage of the new technology available to them, which gave significant results, whereas the Allies had a more traditional mindset and followed behind at a slower pace.
With the use of airplanes as a common method of travel, in-flight safety should be a top priority for both airplane manufacturers and the companies that operate them. There should be an emphasis on updating aircraft technology to enhance passenger safety and provide an understanding of failures during flight. Today, during a crash or major in-flight incident, important aircraft information is recorded to a flight data recorder commonly referred to as the black box. Airplanes are generally equipped with two flight data recorders which may be in the same black box unit or separate black boxes. There are “two separate pieces of equipment – a cockpit voice recorder, which records all of the sound and conversations that happen in the cockpit, and a flight data recorder, which records the planes operating functions” (Bogart). This recorded information is critical to the improvement and advancement of safety policies and procedures. Unfortunately, many times the aircraft or flight data recorder is unrecoverable or the information recorded is limited. The lack of proper in-flight data recording and recovery systems prohibits critical data collected during an accident from reaching airplane manufacturers, which limits the ability to improve the safety of each airplane. The loss of such data also limits institutions from implementing new training and policies for pilots and crews that would result in overall improved flight safety. The need for more reliable and advanced in-flight data recording and recovery systems is essential to the overall safety of commercial air travel.
As airline industry is a competitive marketplace, the airline companies use new technologies to improve their efficiency and decrease the overhead costs, including ‘advanced aircraft engine technology, IT solutions, and mobile technology’ (Cederholm 2014). The technology changes including technology improvement, new innovation and disruptive technology. The disruptive technology need to meet the characteristics of ‘simplicity, convenience, accessibility and affordability’ (Christensen 1995). The technology changes would bring both opportunities and threats to airline companies. Since Labour cost and fuel costs occupy 50% of most airlines operating cost (Groot 2014). Wilbur Wright once said, “The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who... looked enviously on the birds soaring freely through space... on the infinite highway of the air.” He changed American culture forever when he made the first flight alongside his brother Orville. This invention would have an even greater impact on our culture than cars. Although cars are used every day in America, planes have had the largest impact on American culture. Without planes, our lives would be drastically different, but not in a good way. Airplanes had a major impact on military, commerce, and travel.

The next type of aircrafts to be used in World War II were bomber aircrafts. These aircrafts were specialized in dropping bombs on enemies, airstrips, ships, battlegrounds, or anything that stood in their way. Usually, bomber aircrafts were used during the night so they were harder to detect than in the day. Fighter aircrafts usually accompanied these bombers in the event that they were detected by the enemy and needed a way to defend themselves. Bombers provided a huge amount of support to the war and ended up ending World War II.
Aviation has a huge environmental impact to the environment and society, the aircraft engines releases a noise that affects human life and the particulates and gases that are released from the aircraft engines contribute to climate change and increases the global warming. Despite the emission reductions from cars and more fuel-efficient and less polluting turbofan and turboprop engines, the rapid growth of air transportation in the recent years contributes to an increase in total pollution attributable to aviation. In the European Union, and increased greenhouse gas emissions from aviation increased by 87% between 1990 and 2006. Like any other form of public mass transportation that relies on resources that are extracted from the planet for e.g. Oil, and the airline cannot be considered sustainable in the long-term too. Because of the limited resources in which the Aviation relies on, it is more realistic to think how to improve the sustainability of the air transportation rather than achieving a sustainable development. Demand for air transport is growing constantly and, if this demand is to be met with all the benefits associated, the community or society must also accept the costs like; (Pollution, Aircraft noise, Environment change, risk, and resources consumption, etc.).
Air travel has grown in the past decade. Travel grew strongly for both leisure and business purposes. India will have nearly 800 to 1000 airplanes by 2023, it was estimated by Airbus. In spite of growth between 30 to 50 per cent in Indian aviation industry, losses of approximately 2200 crore is estimated for the current year.

In 1958, the United States government created the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) because of increasing safety concerns due to aviation accidents. However, they were not the first government organization that regulated air transportation. Even in 1958, the FAA shared certain responsibilities with other organizations. The responsibilities of the FAA at the time were limited when compared to their functions today, but it was an important step to effectively create a safe air transportation environment. To truly understand why the FAA was created, one must first understand the government’s role within the country’s transportation system.

There are many inventions of the future that people either know or hope will happen and some inventions that people have never thought that would happen in this or the next lifetime. For instance, one piece of future technology that I believe may come to pass is the invention of flying cars. Since the time of being young and watching the Jetsons, many people have been waiting to see the first flying car. While bringing up the idea of a flying car to a lot of people would seem absurd or downright impossible to some, I actually believe that it is very much so possible to create given how far technology has come in the past few decades. I think that it is a very logical conclusion to assume that at some point in the future engineers, car makers, and others will start to pursue other alternatives to avoiding traffic jams and other problems on the road, and instead begin to examine the possibilities of taking to the air as an alternative solution. There is much talk about it over the internet and many people would like to try flying cars. While it would greatly improve traffic for those that prefer staying on the ground, it may prove dangerous in the beginning because of accidents in the air with other cars, planes, trees, and buildings. Some would say though, that the convenience would outweigh the risks because there would not be traffic jams, or detours because of road work. These cars would need something like a GPS system and an anti-wrecking system so people would not run into each other or other objects (How Flying Cars Will Work).
Not only that, it makes life much more fun and convenient. Now, tackling disadvantages, technology has led us humans into creating weapons of mass destruction and turned us into mindless irresponsible creatures who depend on machines to build everything and get everything for us, forgetting the consequences of health issues that affect us personally and the ecosystem as a whole. Like everything out there, needless to say, technology has advantages and disadvantages, and we shouldn't forget that the advantages overshadow the disadvantages. Let us not forget that it helped us achieve and made cultural interactions much easier. Technology has changed every aspect of our lives; it has changed our means of travel, interacting with people as well as food preparation!
