Percy Jackson is a twelve year old boy who has dyslexia and ADHD. During a school trip to a museum, Percy defends his friend Grover from a bully by making the water in the fountain grab the bully. Percy’s teacher Mrs.Dodds then separate Percy from the rest of the class before she transforms into one of the creature from Greek mythology and attack him. Percy then uses pen which transforms into a sword and kill the creature. After school Percy’s mother Sally takes him and Grover to the beach house unfortunately they are attacked by a Minotaur while driving to the countryside and Sally disappears in a gold light when the monster grabs her. Enraged, Percy kills the Minotaur and passes out. Three days later, he wakes up in the infirmary

This is what the reader would classify as Percy’s ordinary world. From this point on, the story will further develop into the next stage call to adventure as the ordinary world seems to be a place the he despises.
