Gym classes help students perform and do better in their classes. Not only do students improve in the classroom, but they are also seeing advantages of having gym class going beyond the classroom and into the home life. Unfortunately some school districts have limited funding and when deciding where to make the budget cuts, they chose to eliminate gym classes. Gym class has the obvious benefits of helping kids become healthier and to become in good physical condition. This success may show up on the weight scale, in different clothing sizes, or less visits to the doctor. Not only is there success physically, but gym classes are beneficial to the mind as well. Children who are physically fit absorb and retain new information more effectively than children who are out of shape. This raises the questions about if cutting physical education programs is a wise decision for schools to make. Physical activity helps students to settle down and actually pay attention in not only school, but at home as well. Teachers aren’t able to teach to the best of their ability if kids are struggling to sit in their chairs, not paying attention, or are simply distracted. Teachers can appreciate their students listening respectively and being attentive. Taking out gym classes will not only cease several advantages for students, but teaches as well. Speaking of teachers, my dad is currently a physical education teacher at Winterset High School. He has shared that P.E. is a way for students to get out excess energy that needs to be exerted. I have heard from several other students that they love P.E. and sometimes, it is what gets them through the grueling school day. Taking that away could be
