The play Romeo and Juliet was about two family foes falling in love. Their forbidden love came to a crashing halt when they ended up killing themselves. They first met at a Capulet feast were the fell in love. They met after the feast and decided to get married. Tybalt wants to fight Romeo because he was at the feast; Tybalt killed Mercutio, which lead to Romeo killing Tybalt. Romeo got banished which led to Capulets setting up a marriage for Juliet. Juliet put herself in medical induced coma; this caused Romeo to kill himself because he thought she was dead. Finally, she killed herself over him being dead. Shakespeare wrote, “If that thy bent of love be honorable, Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow By one that I’ll procure to come to thee, Where and what time thou wilt preform the rite (Shakespeare 2.2.150-153).” Romeo before was trying to prove his love for her. She expresses that they should get married. This has an effect on their deaths because their marriage wants them to be together but they can’t. In conclusion, their decision to get married plays a major role in their deaths. Finally, free will is showed when Romeo kills Tybalt. The text explains, “Alive, in triumph! And Mercutio slain! Away to heav’n, respective lenity…[ They fight. Romeo kills Tybalt] (Shakespeare 3.1. 127-128 … 137).” Romeo declared to Tybalt after Tybalt killed Romeo’s friend Mercutio. Earlier in the play the Prince said if anyone fights again they will be punished. Romeo ended up being banished from the town, and caused a breach of communication with him and Juliet.
