The Iceman’s Murder About 25 years ago, a mysterious body was found in the Ötztal Alps between Italy and Austria. Originally thought to be a hiker lost in the mountains, one of many that share that similar fate. However, upon closer inspection, it was discovered that they had instead found a corpse from 5300 years in the past. This was exciting as they had just found the world’s oldest mummy. While most scientists thought he died in the cold up the mountain, some had doubts, and while studying the remains of the mummy, an anomaly was found inside of it. An arrowhead had been found lodged in his back, close to the heart and deep enough to puncture an artery. As the Huffington Post says “ Clearly, the arrowhead had caused a one-centimeter gash …show more content…
Of Ötzti’s possessions, none were more important than a copper axe. This symbolises power and wealth, labeling him as an important man in his community. However the axe was found with him, which means whoever killed him didn’t want to be identified with it. This rules out clan rival as a rival clan would have surely taken an item of such importance as a copper axe. Another precaution of the murderer is that the arrow shaft of the arrow that killed Ötzti is missing, and the arrow appears to have been pulled out a little from its original position, meaning the murderer pulled the shaft out. Arrow shafts back then could be identified by whoever created them, and thus could lead anyone who saw it back to the murderer. Thus an assassination seems to be the way Ötzti died. Sarah Kaplan said “Based on the fact that he was shot from behind as well as ample evidence that he had been injured in an altercation a few days before he died (he has a partially healed wound on his hand and cerebral trauma indicative of a blow to the head), Horn believes that Otzi was party to a personal conflict that ended violently. It's likely that Otzi didn't know what was
Is it justifiable to inflict the death penalty on individuals who have committed murder? As majority would have it, yes. There are many arguments in favor of capital punishment. Some of these include taking a murderer out of this world once and for all, and saving money that would be spent on them if they were given a life sentence, as well as the majority rule of citizens of the United States wishing it to stay. In Truman Capote’s nonfiction novel, In Cold Blood, Dick and Perry were assigned the death penalty for the cruel murders of four members of the Clutter family in a small town in Kansas. Not only did this pair of men deserve what they got, but it is also better for the state that they were executed.
The sentencing of underage criminals has remained a logistical and moral issue in the world for a very long time. The issue is brought to our perspective in the documentary Making a Murderer and the audio podcast Serial. When trying to overcome this issue, we ask ourselves, “When should juveniles receive life sentences?” or “Should young inmates be housed with adults?” or “Was the Supreme Court right to make it illegal to sentence a minor to death?”. There are multiple answers to these questions, and it’s necessary to either take a moral or logical approach to the problem.
Otzi, they say, was the leader of a group of early people. And he was the oldest person of that time, and had many health issues. One of his health issues was that had heart disease. Also, they found that Otzi had anatomical abnormalities, such as no wisdom teeth and he was missing a 12th pair of ribs. From the evidence that the historians found, Otzi was most likely not favored among leaders, so he most likely, from the to-be leader of the
Otzi's body was found at otztal alps on september 19th by two hikers at an elevation of 3210 meters on the east ridge of the Pfeilspitze in the on the Austrian Italian border. Obviously he was dead and has not been alive for 5000 years. There are many theories on how he died i think he was murdered because there are arrow heads inside of him which makes people think that he was murdered.
On the 19th September, 1991, Two German holiday makers Erika and Helmut Simon would not have expected to have found a body portruding out of the ice while walking on the east ridge of the Fineilspitze in the Ötztal Alps on the Austrian–Italian border.
Crimes in America can be vicious and brutal, often leading to long, draw out trials, but it is only fair if you charge the right man. The only way that it can be fair is if you go by the facts and not the appearance of the accused. Many trials in America have men of color pointed out to be criminals. Many crimes are committed for a reason but many people label it as unknown. People are racist especially against colored people, they believe that white men are innocent but that is not always true. They always turn against the colored people for many crimes that could have been committed by a white man. The novel,Monster and the documentary “Murder On A Sunday Morning” are the same because, both cases have similar charges, both crimes were taken in a public place, and the both consist of racism either by the jury or police.
The marble sarcophagus was made in the Severan period around 230-240 AD. Although there is no exact find-spot
In an interview with Death Penalty Information Center, associate justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1956 to 1990, Justice William J. Brennan, Jr. said, “Perhaps the bleakest fact of all is that the death penalty is imposed not only in a freakish and discriminatory manner, but also in some cases upon defendants who are actually innocent.” Imagining about death can brings terror to anyone. Knowing someone will die hurts more than someone dying instantly. Death Penalty does not allow murderer to to feel guilt for their committed brutal crime. In every case, there is always a small percentage of chance that victim might be innocent. The death penalty should not be legal in any case because of its inhumanity, easy way out for murderer,
True crime documentaries are a unique way to present information about real life criminal cases to audiences while at the same time educating and informing them about the implications of crime. That is what the average true crime genre fan might say. To this point, I call bullshit. True crime documentaries have nothing short of a biased, inaccurate reporting and presentation of facts in a way that reinforces the director’s personal agenda.
More than 5000 years ago, a mummified body was found in an Austrian glacier, and this body had many piercings, including expanded earlobes, tongue and lips. Since this day, thousands of
About 5,000 years ago one of the world’s biggest murder mysteries occurred on the Ӧtzal Alps. On September 19, 1991, a dead body was discovered on those mountains and was named Ӧtzi the iceman. This mummified man is the oldest living preserved body from the late Stone Age. Many questions were raised about this ancient discovery over the years and most have been answered, but one still has many people scratching their heads. Why was Ӧtzi murdered? The theory that makes the most sense is that he was killed by someone who had betrayed him. There is a variety of evidence that supports this and prove that it could be true.
Serial killers have interested me ever since I was young; the way that they think has become more interesting to me as of late. I have read a lot about the America's most infamous serial killers and the more I read the more interesting the their story becomes, some had served time in the military. I found this to be more than just a coincidence. This lead me to ask the question: Does the military enable people with personality disorders to “practice” killing, giving them the confidence to commit serial murder? What is the significance of military training associated with serial killers? Some examples would be Gary Ridgeway (Green River Killer) U.S. Navy, William Bonin (Freeway Killer) U.S. Army, Dennis Rader (BTK Killer) U.S. Air Force, David Berkowitz (Son of Sam) U.S. Army, and Jeffrey Dahmer U.S. Army, to name a few.
There are many trends that is in our society. One is that of the serial killer. Serial killer is a person who murders three or more people, commit murder for some sort of psychological benefit. The first documented serial killing occurred in 1886. In the year of 1990 to 2010 experts started to count the percentage of different race in serial killing. In US 52.1% serial killers were white, while 40.3% were black. In the other countries serial killing doesn’t change much, 56.2% were white and 30%black. Serial killers don’t always act alone either. In serial killing there are three main groups, individual, team, and organizational, this can include a terrorist group. H.H. considered as an individual serial killer, went trend for his way of killing.
Michael Sanders, a Professor at Harvard University, gave a lecture titled “Justice: What’s The Right Thing To Do? The Moral Side of Murder” to nearly a thousand student’s in attendance. The lecture touched on two contrasting philosophies of morality. The first philosophy of morality discussed in the lecture is called Consequentialism. This is the view that "the consequences of one 's conduct are the ultimate basis for any judgment about the rightness or wrongness of that conduct.” (Consequentialism) This type of moral thinking became known as utilitarianism and was formulated by Jeremy Bentham who basically argues that the most moral thing to do is to bring the greatest amount of happiness to the greatest number of people possible.
The story is about a man’s body that was found high in the mountains of the Italian Alps. At first the body was thought to be of someone who got lost climbing in the mountains, which happens on occasion. It was not long into the recovery of the body that it became clear that, this was a very old body from a long time ago. What had made it apparent that this was a very old body were the items that were found along with the body. The items were arrows that had flint arrow heads that were complete and others that were in different stages of completion. A knife like tool that had a flint tipped edge. A back pack and shoes made of animal skins that were stuffed with grass to help keep his feet warm. The most striking
