Originated from Bassano del Grappa, more than 1600 years ago, the famous Italian drink Grappa becomes more and more famous all around the world. Not till 1960s, grappa transformed from a cheap provincial Italian drink into a World Wide known drink.
Traditionally made from byproducts of the winemaking process (vinaccia): pomace, discarded seeds and stalks, Grappa was considered as a cheap and low quality drink for farmers and other lower class workers. Very similar with the French Brandies and Cognac, grappa is also a distilled beverage and can get up to 55 -60 percent alcohol. The main difference is that it is not distilled from the “base wine”, but from the grape pomace. The ideal combination for making grappa is 65% red grape and 35% white grape. This combination is one of the key points of making the drink taste as it was 500 years ago. Also known as “firewater”, this drink could warm you up in winter and easily get you drunk in summer.
Another very interesting fact is that the original brand name of Grappa is being protected by the EU product organisation since 1989, as a result Grappa is being produced, sourced and exported worldwide only by Italian manufactures.
For the present day, the process of making Grappa has been completely mechanised by the large alcohol making corporations. And still it takes quite a while until the white and red leftovers of grape are transformed in a crystal clear great tasting drink. So how was the original process like? Because my father is working in the winemaking industry, I have tried quite many drinks throughout my life at different expositions all over the world. To be honest grappa is the best tasting drink among high alcohol drinks. It is very sweet at the same time as quite heavy, unlike vodka or tequila which is just alcohol. The drink that originated from a small Italian province is now being enjoyed by the whole world. In my opinion to understand the real taste of the drink, the person must know everything about it: history, how is it made, how old is it and even how does the bottle look. People who know it and understand the real meaning of drinking alcohol are very smart people, with a very reach life experience.
The differences and similarities between the traditional version of the Epic Beowulf and the modern version, Beowulf and Grendel, makes passages for characters such as Grendel to be changed due to the time frame in between the film and the epic.There are several characters that stood out from the film, as they are portrayed in the epic as something completely different than in the movie. I think this has a part that meant Tommy started to have interest in her as a teacher because he felt something different from other teachers. After immigrating into the United States he married into the Anheuser brewing family. In the 1870’s Adolphus Busch registered Budweiser as a trademark in the U.S. Adolphus Busch dubbed his company Budweiser, “the king of beers.” Budweiser is a registered trademark of the St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, One Busch Place, St. Louis, Missouri 63118-1852, which is the world’s largest brewing company. Budweis is a small brewing town in the Czech republic. The town has a 700-year-old history of beer brewing. The brewing company Budvar of Budejovice registered Budweiser as a trademark in Europe in 1895. Budvar’s Budweiser is considered by beer experts to be a greater beer than the American Budweiser. Czechs are very proud of the Budvar brewery and considers its beer to be a national treasure. In the days before a global marketplace, the American Budweiser and the Czech Budweiser have never really competed with each other. However, in the 1990’s with increased global competition in the beer market, this dispute over who actually owns the Budweiser name takes on increased importance. According to a 1958 agreement signed by the Czech government, brand names that denote geographic origin are protected. So the Czech government which owns Budweiser believes that they should be the only ones allowed to carry that name in Europe. However the United States did not sign that treaty in 1958, so they do not agree with this. They have decided that it was no longer necessary for them to have a trademark settlement to develop the American Budweiser business in Europe.

A Mesopotamian tablet dating back to 7000 B.C. contains a beer recipe named ¡§wine of the grain¡¨ (Alcoholic Beverages, 2005). In 1292, a Czech Republic town produced its first pilsner beer. A prominent beer brand, Pilsner Urquell, brewing dates back to the early thirteenth century.
