Connections are so necessary in life. It’s so important to have some sort of a support group whether that be family, friends, mentors, etc. Social media helps people from all over the world network. It doesn’t matter where you are from, what you look like, your race, your height, your age, your sexuality; no characteristic can limit you from forming some type of a bond online with others. That is the beauty of it and to top it off there’s no limitation of how many connections you can form. A positive side to this is looking at it in terms of mental health. One suffering from a mental illness can reach out in their community and find someone with similar struggles. Word travels fast on social media; if something news-worthy occurs, one can bet it will be captured and instantaneously posted on social media and then forth, brought to the attention of millions of people worldwide. Injustices often trend globally when tragedies occur. A recent local example would be the Orlando pulse night club shooting. People from all over the world sent their condolences to the city of Orlando and the families of the victims; not a single soul went unrecognized and their names were aired publicly on every media platform. Occurrences like that bring people together as a community and together as a community, we grow from it.
