Sports Make American High School Students Better High school students are the future of the society. They have many things need to learn. Knowledge is one of the most important things that students gain from schools. However, schools also need to take care students’ health. In the 21st century, under the influence of American culture, obesity is a huge problem among the high school students. Schools should take care of students for both their academic field and personal life. Based on my research, I have found that letting high school students participate in sports can keep youth away from the struggle of academic performance, body condition.

Obesity can cause many dangerous health issues. Under the tremendous pressure from the academic works, high school students have great preferences of eating junk food and being a sofa potato for express their pressure. Both of those bad habits will make students gain a large amount of extra fat and damage their health. Most students will have passive emotion for going out and exercise after they get back home from the school. After a busy school day, they would rather sit and do nothing than play sports. On the other side, most families do not have the facilities, such as the basketball court, baseball field, and other condition. The high school students spent most of their daily time in the schools, and schools usually have a better condition for playing sports. Schools should advocate students to participate in playing sports by fully utilizing the schools’ facilities in schools. For myself, joining high school basketball team had made my body in a better shape than I ever had. Compare playing sports alone with playing at school with friends, the environment is the big different. In the school, I met many great friends through sports. We work out together and give each other the best encouragement. In the research, working with others is easier to stick it out.
