Introduction This paper will look at the layers of the Concentric Zone Models and describe them. I will discuss the particular zone I was raised in and compare it to the ones that earlier generations in my family were brought up in. I will then write about the type of zone I live in now. I always knew there were differences in living in and around cities. We are made up of suburban and rural areas but I never realized how structured these living areas are and how consistent our choices are based on how we ourselves were reared.

Wikipedia describes it as “one of the earliest theoretical models to explain urban social structures. This model was created by sociologist Ernest Burgess in 1925, using the city of Chicago. Zone A-heart of the city, zone B-surrounds the cities center, zone C-homes of the working class, zone D-wealthy homes of white collar workers, and zone E-estates of upper class (exurbs) and the suburbs. I am now living in a concentric zone I would describe as D & E. I live in a private gated community that is on top of a mountain near the Blue Ridge area in Georgia. I would never have thought I would live in this type of area growing up as I was brought up living near stores and easy commutes to shopping centers and entertainment. I would not ever wish to change the luxury I have being surrounded by beautiful scenery and free roaming wildlife of deer, fox, wild turkeys, bobcats, and even bear.
