People today believe that college isn’t worth the money due to the amount spent to attend it and some people have used it in their own political campaigns, but I think college is worth the cost because it provides people with more knowledge in the career you’re pursuing, the payment benefits and get more opportunities with degrees.
Going to college for a specific field such as being a teacher, you gain knowledge of how to teach, how to be calm and collected with said students, gain more knowledge of not only the subject you are pursuing to teach but also your people skills, and degrees to further yourself in the field to teach higher grades. College isn’t just about obtaining a degree, no it is about learning more about the field you are pursuing and deepening your knowledge in areas you didn’t think were possible. “Students today are taking on more debt, and recently tightened bankruptcy laws it more difficult to shake that debt.” (Wielder). The smallest degree you can get is an associate and that takes two years, this deprives the student of more opportunities of work. People have begun to speculate that graduates are losing ground on wages from a recent study. “After gains in the 1980s and particularly in the 1990s, hourly wages for young college-educated men in 2000 were $22.75, but that dropped by almost a dollar to $21.77 by 2010” (Shierholz).
Sure, going to college is expensive but a degree does not only help you it also helps your future employer because they are getting a well-trained and educated worker to help them in whatever field they are in. Getting a good job with a degree can help you start a family because you wouldn’t be so tight with money and it further helps you in whatever career that you wish to pursue so someday you might even be an
