Taking PSY 105 Fatherhood This course taught me many things that I never knew before or would think of when I eventually become a father. I might not be a father now but after taking this class I feel prepare more than ever. When I do become a father I plan making a script, setting goals, applying some of the things that I learned in class such as the importance of co-parenting, praising, and how I spend time with my child. The things I learned I don’t keep to myself but enjoy talking about the things I learned to my friends and family. This class extend my perspective of fatherhood, and what it means to be a father. It is not easy to be father but after taking this course most of my fear diminished. The books I read, lectures I listened, and the videos I watch has helped me understand that raising a kid is not easy but not impossible. What I do and say to my child can impact his or her life tremendously. For example, how I discipline and praise my child is crucial. I can’t be angry and discipline my child at the same time. In addition, I have to make sure my child understands why I discipline him or her. I have to be clear to what they did wrong and comfort him or her after the discipline. Praise is another thing that as a father I must not overpraise nor should I praise the wrong way. …show more content…

My journey of being prepare to be father is only the beginning, I plan on keeping the books we read and downloading the readings on campus to help teach other potential fathers. I recommended the fatherhood class to every Wabash man I know in campus. It’s a course that as student should take the opportunity to register for many reasons that will benefit anyone in the future. As the class comes to the end does not mean I have stop too. I’m eager to learn more about co-parenting, discipline, attachment, and etc. I plan to do what it takes to be the best and prepared father to my
