Who doesn’t love puppies and their big eyes? Everyone loves when they are so small with their big droopy eyes. Catahoulas are by far one of the most cutest breeds. Every dog has to grow up and they no longer have the puppy appearance, but the Catahoula is a striking breed and through out history has kept its name to be one of the most dashing breeds.
The Catahoula comes from a long blood line of wild and domesticated dogs. ''War dogs'' are dogs that the English French and Hispanic people used in the 16th century, for tracking hunting and they were used in wars. There are three different breeds of war dogs. The Mastiff was English, this breed stands 3-4 feet tall with their shoulders being 1 foot in length. Their tall legs and webbed feet helped in swamps were they were tall enough to see over the tall grass and their feet helped them swim. The Beaceron was a French breed, this is breed has a very strong nose and was used for tracking and hunting. Besides for that this breed was very basic in size. The last breed was the Greyhound, this being the Spanish breed it was and still to this day the fastest breed of dog. The greyhound stands about two feet high and its shoulders are about 10 inched apart. The only other blood line that goes into the Catahoula is the Redwolf. This is were the Catahoula gets its aggressiveness, and its tendency to work in packs. The Catahoula originated in Louisiana, the word ''Catahoula'' comes from the Taensa Indians. It means ''Heart of a leader''.
