On May 2, 2018, at 0140 hours, Sgt. Blanchard and I, were approached by a lost elderly motorist. The female later identified at Margaret Thorne, related that she was lost and in need if some directions. Margaret related that she trying to back to Leola, Pennsylvania. On inquiry, Margaret related that she left Lancaster, PA this afternoon after visiting her hospitalized husband, but took a wrong turn, became lost and has been driving ever since . Margaret also related that her phone’s battery was out of charge and not working. While Sgt. Blanchard checked if Margaret was a missing person, I escorted her inside Wawa in an attempt to buy a charger for her phone. Blanchard and I arrived at the hotel and spoke with Mr. Pierce. He related that Margaret’s credit card was declined and that she became argumentative. On contact, Margaret could not remember how she got to the hotel or our prior conversation. Although Margaret was confused, she was not in any type of medical emergence while, Mr. Pierce gave me his phone charger that matched Margaret’s phone. After about 10 minutes, I was able to turn on Margaret’s phone and many text messages come through from her husband, Thomas. I placed a call to Thomas, who was frantic, but extremely grateful that his wife was safe. After a period of conversation, Thomas related that his suffers from a psychosis metal condition. Thomas related that he checked himself out of the hospital and was unaware Margaret had taken her day’s medication. Thomas requested that I take Margaret to the local hospital for medical evaluation due to her detreating mental status. I then transported Margaret to Jefferson Hospital Crisis Center where I remained until evaluated by medical staff. Thomas was then notified of the hospital and his Margaret’s status. Thomas was very grateful and related that he was responding immediately this morning. No further police action
