To venture into the realm of science and technology is to pursue a path of boundless discovery. I am in awe of how much humanity has been shaped by medical advances, paving the way for new cures and better anatomical understanding. Civilization itself relies solely upon such advances, thus the urge to contribute to an ever-changing profession has long since ignited my interest in a biomedical engineering course. In the last few years I have realized that my passion lies in developing affordable technology that could save many suffering patients and their ailments and improve the quality of life of those with serious medical conditions. Consequently, in order for me embark on this incredible opportunity, I am extremely reliant on grants and scholarships to see this experience come to fruition. It has been two years since I immigrated to Canada with my parents and siblings to pursue my Engineering. Unfortunately within a year, we had to move from Toronto to Calgary in pursuit of employment for better employment opportunities but even after a year my father was called for only one job interview. He is struggling both in his personal and professional life. To say he is scarred, is putting it mildly. He left a very successful career with the knowledge and he is facing a great difficulty to get a similar position but we never anticipated that he would end up feeling invisible and a non-entity with absolutely nothing to offer except involving voluntarily with the organizations. Since coming here, he has been shelling out money for everything, University admission fees for me, medical expenses for my mother, and so on and is left with no money.
