All over America there are children growing up and suffering from not being able to communicate with their father. A father does not necessarily have to be the biological father, it can be someone a child looks up to. Many children who are growing up in the 21st century are growing up without a father while the mother thinks it is acceptable. Children also have to deal with the fact that their mother will not allow the father to be a part of the child’s life. According to the 2006 Census, 23 percent of children under 18 do not live with their biological father and the number is climbing. Parents in the 60s were different from parents in 2016. There are many women today who do not allow the father be a part of the child’s life. A father is needed to bring structure the home. According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), 2,220,300 adults were incarcerated in US federal and state prisons, and county jails in 2013 – about 0.91% of adults (1 in 110) in the U.S. resident population. The cause for the number of prisoners is because of lack of discipline. Children need guidance to become a great person. A father can tell the children right from wrong. If the mother is at work all the time who will be at home helping with homework or take the child to their extra curriculum activities? A father figure can serve as a role model. In some families the father is the breadwinners, while the mother will stay at home and cook and clean. There are parents that both work to support the family. A mother cannot do everything on her on while raising a child. There are families where the father does not live with the child but they pay child support. There are many fathers that are not paying child support. When a father does not pay child support the mother struggles to make ends meet. The nuclear family of the male being the breadwinner has historically been around to men who could earn a family wage.
