Arms: The Army Profession Of Arms

What is profession of arms? You can ask that question to any Soldier and it is a guarantee each Soldier will provide a different answer. In this essay, I will discuss my perception of the profession of arms’ generalized idea, the Army professional culture, the Human Resources sergeant’s role in the Army profession, and the balancing role of the profession.
The Meaning of Profession
According to An Army White Paper The Profession of Arms article, the “professions produce uniquely expert work, not routine or repetitive work” (p.2). This statement is true for many of our Soldiers. Professions are not perfect. In fact, professions might make the most mistakes. However, those mistakes are learning moments and/or experiences instead of seeing such situations as holdbacks. Our Army professions have a self-policing mentality and use experience to make better future decisions. (p.2).
Significantly, having individualistic professions simultaneously translates to the Profession of Arms. Individualistic professions help us understand that although our Profession of Arms calls for lethality with our weapons and operations; our military is cognizant of the different views to avoid implementation of fear or mistrust in our Americans and allies. …show more content…

HR sergeants are very involved in the built up of other Soldiers becoming professions. HR professionals mentor Soldiers on personal life and career-building matters within and out of the military. HR professionals go through unofficial training on a daily basis with the one goal. The goal of streamlining work. Many HR professionals take it upon themselves to familiarize with other sections for a more effective workforce.
HR professional have many functions. HR professionals do not know everything. They try to learn what could potentially pertain to them. HR professionals make efforts to mentor Soldiers in HR functions. They mentor them to inform them and show them self-efficiency.
