There is a cricket maxim, "To save a run is to make a run." I am a diehard fan of cricket and the stated adage has set the academic and professional directions of my career. My country is grasped by a serious energy crisis that is impinging on the entire economy and society. Electricity shortfall across the country has surged over the years. During maximum countrywide temperatures, demand strikes peak and we experience continuous power outages. Regular power cuts aspired me to explore efficient electric power generation and conservation schemes. A major segment of electricity is exploited for lighting purposes. An estimated ten percent of the annual energy consumption in Pakistan could be saved by adopting solid-state lighting (SSL) for illumination. …show more content…
The province of Pakistan which I belong to, i.e., KPK, has very few quality education institutions. After my matriculation from Talash valley, a remote area of KPK, I had a dream to get admission at Islamia College Peshawar which is a prestigious educational institution. During exam a mishap shattered my academic dreams. Somebody threw a paper plane from outside exam hall that carried the script, "This is just for entertainment." Superintendent got exasperated and coerced all students to stop writing. I got 81% marks in matric and missed my target of securing admission in Islamia College by 1%. This incident proved to be a blessing in disguise and a turning point for my later achievements. Through my persistent hard-work and incessant motivation from my teachers, I got many prestigious awards. I got a gold medal and presidential award for securing top position in Malakand Board. Merit scholarships for Bachelor's and Master's were conferred on me which relieved financial burden from my parents. I provided guidance to many of my passionate junior students who were heart-broken by their earlier failures. I have a very firm belief that synergistic efforts on macro- and micro-level will boost education in …show more content…
I got internship at NILOP and conducted deposition of n-type GaN on sapphire, silicon and glass substrates using e-beam assisted thermal evaporation. Microscopy, AFM, XRD characterization, and Hall Effect Measurement characterization of the deposited samples were carried out at School of Chemicals and Materials Engineering (SCME). Collaboration with NILOP and SCME extended the duration of my Master's for six months but the practical experience I got at these facilities is priceless. This experience endowed me a comprehensive training in semiconductor device physics and thin films deposition process. It made me grasp the crucial role these efficient lighting devices can play in energy
The style in which characters in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby conduct their relationships shows how ambition and lack of it causes destruction.
Motivation is the main element towards success. Students, scientist, teachers and/ or any individual who wants to reach a goal needs to be motivated/ambitious. This motivation/ambition is what guides and keep people going. This ambition may be geared towards inventing/creating something, obtaining more money, and/or succeeding. The ambition people have are good, but sometimes lead to bad consequences. These consequences set the relationship between action and ambition. But, no matter what the goal is people with ambitions will not stop until their goal is met. Ambition towards obtaining something is what motivates people. For example Victor Frankenstein wanted to create a human being. As Mary Shelley writes in "Frankenstein", Victor Frankenstein wanted to be "the first to break through life and death ideal bonds"(231). His ambition was to create a human and to break these boundaries. But most importantly, he wanted to be recognized as the first individual to do this. This recognition would make him famous forever. The only thing he thought of was to break the boundaries of life and create a human creature.
* Taking advantage of daylighting where possible to reduce the need for electric light is extremely useful. Also using light-emitting
For some students it is difficult to get a good education. These students live in a poor community and are required to go to schools that have a low graduation rate. These schools have a certain reputation such that other students refer to it as the “ghetto school”, “where the pregnant girls go”, and the “dropout factory”. This
The fact that everyone has goals and ambitions is what makes us all similar to each other, yet we differ by our motivations and willingness to sacrifice to attain those aspirations. This concept of ambition and motivation is depicted through the conflicts of the short stories “A Wall of Fire Rising” by Danticat, and “The Birth-Mark” by Hawthorne which stem from Guy and Aylmer’s impossible desires, respectively. Although Guy and Aylmer desire for unreachable ambitions at the cost of losing something important, both protagonists have different insecurities that drive them.
GaN Is the newest development, it may become the new material for optical devices in the near future. GaN Can emit at short wavelengths (high energy photons), future plans are considering extending spectrum to cover most of the visible region. The AlGaAs-GaAs covers 800-900 nm while InGaAsP-InP works in the 1100-1550 nm.
Ambition is a force that has driven mankind for thousands of years. Every person has experienced it in their lifetime and can remember how it pushed them to achieve a goal. One can attribute many of the most famous events in history, good and bad, to it’s influence. Because ambition’s effects are so widespread and have had such an impact on the world, it is safe to say that it has shaped the way that we live our lives today.
The sun exists as one of the highest abundant sources of energy. Yet the world neglects to implement solar technology as a dependable resource. Daily, Americans make the switch to solar energy and cut dependency from local utilities. One of the greatest advantages of harvesting solar energy stands that the sun shines for long durations throughout the day and the sun rises every day; hence, reliability. Other natural renewable resources are available such as hydro, wind, geothermal, biomass and nuclear energy. Renewable energy is the key to improvising in the way we create energy while minimizing damage to the earth. Through thorough research science and engineering have created high tech technology that emits less Co2 by
Preview: Today I will discuss the potential that solar power has to become this country’s main supply of energy and the latest research that can make solar power more efficient and cost effective. I will also present the environmental benefits that come with using solar power over other and more harmful forms of energy.
I, Darren Garner, am writing to expiate how recent circumstances in my life have impacted my matriculation at Dalton State College. Many trials and tribulations have planted themselves in my path to success throughout my post education career. Though the adversity may have stressed and crippled my drive to be successful I still managed to show a spirit of excellence in my matriculation. Many opportunities for me to halt my education have presented themselves boldly but me having the mindset of modesty and tranquility have kept me afloat and focus on my priorities. In my life as a growing young man I have acquired to learn from my mistakes and naivety. In this letter I will elaborate on how my recent and past circumstances that have altered my clear path to my greatest accomplishment.
My educational journey began in my country before moving to WA State (Redmond). I grew up in a large family with my parents and siblings. My father always encouraged me to do well in school and fulfill his dreams of being his future Human Rights Lawyer and he still does. During my learning experience as a kid, I was always prepared for school even though my mommy could not correct me because she didn’t complete her high school but luckily my father was able to help me out with my school works. I became motivated to even work harder. With my effort and hard work, I was able to enroll in an international school for my 7th grade. I never looked back. I kept my standards high which lead me to represent my school at the National High School Model
Solar power has come a long way. From its humble beginnings in ancient times, to the sophisticated uses of the present day, solar power will most likely always be with us. Solar pioneers had the difficult task of convincing skeptics to see that solar energy was something more than a curiosity. To the general population, improving and adapting existing power technology seemed less risky than trying to establish alternative energy sources. But alternative energy sources are necessary. Solar power is so useful because as long as the sun’s rays continue to hit the earth, solar power can always be a viable means of generating heat.
I go to camp every year and allow myself to love people, dreading the day when I will have to depart from them. I claw at each moment, attempting to hold on to time. I do this even though I know from the beginning that as soon as I enter I will be hurled towards the last day, towards the end, towards good-bye. And it breaks my heart. Yet every year, I'm just so grateful to have had my heart broken.
Our village Keti Mir Mohammad Ghumro is situated around 8 kms north of Pir Jo Goth in Kutcha area on the left bank of river Indus and is inhabited predominantly by us Ghumros for centuries. Our prime source of earning is through agriculture. The village has although a small population, it is scattered over an area roughly 3 sq kms. The village is unique in that it has over 100 year old primary school which has been catering for not only the villagers but students from villages local to us. We as head family of the village have ever since encouraged education of the village children as opposed to the cliché that village heads rather discourage village children from education. We have had in the past doctors, engineers, professors, lawyers and geniuses in other professional fields because of this primary school that continues to build a solid basis of students for higher education todate. Our village and the Ghumros are known for their love for peace and law-abiding nature. Never in the history of this village has there been any crime and never have there been people in the Ghumro family siding or patronizing the crime. The village today is passing through the worst of its time in the history and we are looking me...
Education has always been one of the important attribute to success. Those who do not have an education are frown upon in this society. People start to believe that they will be judge and set on a level base on their education. Therefore, many high school and college students work hard with determination in getting that perfect grade scores and being accepted to the top colleges. As people kept a closed mindset, Suli Break, a spoken word poet with a great mindset, set out to inspire and educate young people about the constant issues that we all face. One of his poems, “I will not let an exam result decide my fate”, had caught my whole attention because he addresses issues about the controversy of society and education. Today, society had been misleading us thru education for their self gain and had made us believe of our self worth base on society.
