The evolution of technology has changed society in both positive and negative ways. People all over the world use and benefit from modern technology. Technology has simplified the access to many tools people need in education, medicine, communication, transportation, etc. However, using it too often has its drawbacks as well. In most cases, the time of finishing projects is cut by more than half with the help of technology. Many people do not realize that technology has its negative affects society as well, and its rapid advances has changed life for worse in a number of different ways. Technology has changed the relationships of families. Distracted by their laptops, TV’s, smartphones, and video games, families can’t have a friendly attitude towards eachother as they used to in the past. Before the creation of these devices, families would sit together around the table and play games together. But, since the creation of video games, home entertainment has changed to games played by yourself, and the impact of these games on families is very obvious. Today, instead of watching TV together or eating supper together around a table and talking about everyone’s day, everyone is in a different room, playing video games, watching TV, texting, or listening to music. But, sometimes technology helps parents to communicate better with their children and know where they are, what they’re doing, and if they’re okay. People are so intrigued by their smartphones and laptops that they are blind to the ones that they called “friends” who are all now so distant, that human interaction is very difficult. Also, the usage of some mineral resources can also pollute the air; burning any kind of fuel fossils releases dangerous elements into the air, such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. All of these kinds of pollution which are caused by the increase of technology, can lead to global environmental problems. People can see the many positive effects of technology from different views of human life such as education, agriculture, personal safety, and the environment. But, not everyone considers the downsides while they play Call of Duty and check Facebook for what their friends are doing. Although technology does simplify people’s tasks and duties and make things much easier, it may weaken health, kill environments, and ruin the social, human interactive life that once was.
