To compare I have chosen a painting entitled A Bar at the Folies-Bergeres by Edouard Manet and Sir John Soane’s Museum, in Lincoln’s Inn Fields. A Bar at the Folies-Bergère shows a scene from Parisian life at the time: a young barmaid is positioned behind the bar of a crowded night-club.
