The world that we live in today is all about becoming successful. That doesn’t mean becoming a millionaire or a billionaire, but whatever your definition of success is. For example, a mother’s child graduating college could emphasize success in her eyes. Having a loving family regardless of financial problems can also be considered a success. In Lorraine Hansberry’s play A Raisin In The Sun a family is tested with many obstacles in their way—their finances, their skin, their vicinity, and the time period. This play clearly highlights exactly what family means. Dreams and emotions all seep out, barricaded by conflicts that push the family’s loyalty to the extreme. A Raisin in the Sun clearly emphasizes what family means from my perspective; it shows how far one member of a family is willing to go to make sure that their family is taken care of.
