Post war on industrial organization psychology
After the event of world war and the uprising movement of industrial revolution, with the induction of Hawthorne effect in the area of psychology, industrial organization starts to develop through several major pieces of civil rights legislation. It was in the early 60’s where they started to focus attention towards fairness in the work place. Thus, only I/O trained psychologist are on demand during that era.
It was also been narrated that during this time, the idea of T-training test was developed. A T-group or training group (sometimes also referred to as sensitivity-training group, human relations training group or encounter group) is a form of group training where participants themselves (typically, between eight and 15 people) learn about themselves (and about small group processes in general) through their interaction with each other. They use feedback, problem solving, and role play to gain insights into themselves, others, and groups. There were various psychologists that applied the T- group such as Carl Rogers and even Daniel Goleman. This training concept is highly criticized due to it fluctuation of behaviors.
In the 1970, I/O starts to develop rapidly in understanding other issues such as employee satisfaction and motivation. In the latter decade, behavior in organization was not that concrete as compared to the current decade. B.F Skinner wrote a book Beyond Freedom and Dignity that resulted to the emergence and rising of behavior in organizations. Another set of points that shows significant impact on post war is that women are increasingly entering to the realm of workforce and taking on managerial role. With the increment of foreign population in America, psychologist had to understand each other needs. Thus, diversity issues will be prominent challenges with regards to the workplace. With the existence of the idea of cheap labor, I/O psychology had to increase the emphasizing of service jobs requiring human relation skills. There will be impact I/O psychology that includes flexibility with work schedule, family-friendly work policies and other policies that should be ethical and also humanizing in nature. That includes taking care of the elderly and many more that can affect organization stability.
This field is founded on the belief that people want to lead meaningful lives, to find what is best within themselves and to enhance their life experiences. As a result this following paper gives examples of educational requirements, salary, travel, and retirement funds and plans. Psychologist are necessary because people deserve to be heard, therefore, one should consider looking at the education salary, travel opportunities and etc. to join this career.
What drives motivation? How far will one go to achieve their goal? Does it mean compromising their ethical beliefs or will they succeed following their ethical compass? For many, they will do just about anything, include being unethical. No boundary, no barrier, no obstacle will stop them. The movie depicts various management and observation behavior concepts covered in Organizational Behavior such as communication process model, power and counter power, the MARS Model, and values and ethics.
Clinical psychology is just one of the many subfields that psychology has to offer. Those who choose to enter clinical psychology aim to help people with addiction, emotional stress, mental illness, or any other type of mental problems. Knowing what a clinical psychologist does in their practice is important in understanding their profession. A clinical psychologist's education is the most prominent part of their career; without it, they cannot be considered a psychologist. The process and requirements of employment for psychologists are scattered, varying from state to state, as well as their salary and where they may be employed. The future and growth of clinical psychology can only be determined by the success of this career today. My purpose for this paper is to research the education, the process and requirements of employment, plus the salary and places for employment for psychologists.
My paper is based on an article from the text’s web site (chapter 9) entitled “Lack of sleep ages body’s systems.” The basic claim of the article is that sleep deprivation has various harmful effects on the body. The reported effects include decreased ability to metabolize glucose (similar to what occurs in diabetes) and increased levels of cortisol (a stress hormone involved in memory and regulation of blood sugar levels). The article also briefly alludes (in the quote at the bottom of page 1) to unspecified changes in brain and immune functioning with sleep deprivation.
The non-structured approach allows open and fluent communication by participants to select the topics of discussion and set goal attainment procedures. Some of the goals of a typical T-Group are; (1) to increase awareness of your feelings in the present, (2) to increase awareness of how your behavior impacts others, (3) to enhance feedback skills, (4) to enhance conflict management skills, (5) to increase awareness of other’s feelings, (6) to critique your interpersonal communication skills, (7) to learn to make authentic conscious choices, (8) to gain knowledge and practice skills in group dynamics and team development. . . Theoretical goals of T-Group training vary but their main focus is on freeing inhibitions of prior social interactions to allow participants to become more sensitive to their self and others while developing greater interpersonal competence (Harrow et al.,
Presently, because of the hybrid heritage, psychology is not thought over as one of the social sciences such as sociology, economic science, government science, and cultural anthropology. Psychology is viewed as an ally to the natural sciences such as biology, chemistry, laws of nature, and mathematics (Thornton, 2009). Psychology is also seen as humanities, which are philosophy, human speeches, music and art. Most psychologists join forces on research and other conceptions with intellectuals and scientists in distinctive fields. This adds to the diversity of interests, which can be seen in the modern psychology department.
Public Safety Officials have been battling the difficult question of profiling for quite a while. The question is how do they know the suspected individual fit the category associated with an offense? While it has been proven that many profiling cases are somewhat directed to a racial profile, it can be proven that people, given the discretion, are able to identify explanations for a series of behavioral events by identifying what that behavior accredits to. This theory, identified by Frite Heider, “suggested that we have a tendency to give casual explanations for someone’s behavior, often by crediting either the situation or the person’s disposition,” called the attribution theory. Until recently, a study of the like was considered to be a branch of sociology and not a form of psychology. Social psychology essentially became the focus on the individual rather than the group as a whole. Many thoughtful ideas are collected in response to the studies of social psychology. Human cognition is understood to arise from interacting socially; highlighting the importance of socialization. We use social cognition to develop our explanations and our ideas on why a person’s behavior is/does what it is/does.

Hawthorne Studies have been subjected to many criticisms. Yet, the evolvement of many of the management theories today would not have come about without the experiments done by Elton Mayo. This essay will cover the various aspects of management that has been refined through the findings of the tests conducted and how improvements were made to aid in the development of organisational behaviour.
