There are two different styles of log home construction. The first is manufactured log homes also known as kit homes. The logs are mechanically shaped into uniform dimensions. Manufactured logs may also be milled round or rectangular in profile with endless variations. The second type of construction is handcrafted. The natural characteristics of the logs are preserved to show off their individuality and the joinery of the logs is done with hand held tools. There are three different styles of logs. The first is a D shape log for the exterior log look and flat indoor appearance. The second is fully rounded logs to give the full log look on both the interior and exterior. The third is a square log that gives the appearance of timber construction, being flat on all four sides, with the advantages of log building. When our parents think of braces, a sudden image of head gear and thick metal bands come to mind. They used to have a bulky metal band hugging the entire tooth, although today that is not the case. As generations passed by they became more esthetic (Bren, 2005). The metal bands are now brackets in a much smaller size. If your parents remember braces in that form, it leads you to the question how long have braces been around? Many today do not get orthodontic brackets due to the cost but, they don’t even know how much they will be paying. The application process is quite simple but, as any procedure there are risks.
In the UK, Timber frame construction is based on factory made structural elements. The timber framed wall panels take the loads on the building to the foundations whilst the outer cladding provides embellishment and weather protection. Now depending on what cladding is to be used is totally up to the client/builder/architect as it is a matter of choice; it can be brick, stone or lightweight claddings, such as timber boarding, tile hanging or render.
Denture teeth can be made of acrylic poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) or composite resins. PMMA is a polymer - a material made the from joining of methyl methacrylate monomers. Properties of PMMA include resistance to abrasion, chemical stability and a high boiling point. (Jun Shen et al. 2011). However, weak flexure and impact strength of PMMA are of concern as they account for denture failure. (Bolayir G, Boztug A and Soygun K. 2013). Composite denture teeth are made of a three distinct phases - filler, matrix and coupling agents. Out of the types of composite teeth available, nano-filled composite teeth are preferred. Composite teeth have a PMMA coating around the tooth and a high content of filler particles. This gives them strength, higher resistance to forces than acrylic teeth and provides compete polymerization due to the PMMA coating. (Anusavice, K. J., Phillips, R. W., Shen, C., & Rawls, H. R, 2012). If the interface between the PMMA denture base and PMMA or composite teeth was weak, the denture will not be able to sustain occlusal forces, making the base-teeth interface, an entity of significance.
The future of dentistry is the end of the use of amalgam restorations. Amalgam restorations are believed to be the cause of many illnesses for dental professionals.
