A couple weeks ago, my friends invited me to go to the movie Zoolander2 with them. We planned to go to the 7:20 showing at the Visualite. Since I can’t drive, my friend Patrick volunteered to pick me up on his way to the movie theater. He had never come to my house before and asked for my address so he would know how to get there. It was nearing 6 o’clock when I texted him saying that I was bored and asked him to come over earlier to hang out. He liked the idea and started heading towards my house. The sun was beginning to set making it harder to see where my house was located. My house is already difficult to find being tucked far behind a large group of trees and being located on a back road. I expected him to be at my house in under fifteen

In Slaughterhouse- Five, Kurt Vonnegut’s themes of war and time travel to tell the story of World War II in Dresden through the eyes of Billy Pilgrim. Vonnegut uses flashbacks and blackouts to bring Billy back and forth throughout different eras of his life in order for him to develop a way to cope with the bombing in Dresden.
Jim Carrey is a successful comedian and actor, who has been a part of many award-winning films, and is world renowned for his talents. He did not start out this prosperous; he overcame many obstacles, and encountered many choices from a very young age that affected his path to infamy. He kept trying diligently to reach his goal of making people laugh, and through trial and error, he succeeded.
Critics of Kurt Vonnegut’s are unable to agree on what the main theme of his novel Slaughterhouse Five may be. Although Vonnegut’s novels are satirical, ironical, and extremely wise, they have almost no plot structure, so it is hard to find a constant theme. From the many people that the main character Billy Pilgrim meets, and the places that he takes us, readers are able to discern that Vonnegut is trying to send the message that there will always be death, there will always be war, and humans have no control over their own lives.
Baruch Spinoza once said “Experience teaches us no less clearly than reason, that men believe themselves free, simply because they are conscious of their actions and unconscious of the causes whereby those actions are determined.” He compared free-will with destiny and ended up that what we live and what we think are all results of our destiny; and the concept of the free-will as humanity know is just the awareness of the situation. Similarly, Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five explores this struggle between free-will and destiny, and illustrates the idea of time in order to demonstrate that there is no free-will in war; it is just destiny. Vonnegut conveys this through irony, symbolism and satire.
I started to walk across the street to my friend Lacey’s house. Lacey lives just outside Detroit, but like my family, her family comes to the cape for the summer. Our families’ have been friends for about 10 years, but we normally don’t see or talk to each other during the year, only summertime seems to bring us together. Traditionally Lacey and I leave for the beach together, even at age 7 we walked with our mothers, so I knew I had to tell her about this errand before I left for town.
There are movies that make you laugh, that make you cry, that blow you away with jaw-dropping, ever-so-satisfying action sequences. And there is Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino’s masterpiece, an homage to the old Pulp Magazines and crime novels popular in the 1950s. Known for their incredibly dense and complex dialogue and excessive violence, Tarantino adds his trademark nonlinear chronology and thorough character development to create a movie that celebrates the fact that chance governs all of our lives. The film consists of multiple stories that tell of the criminals, gangsters and outliers of Los Angeles, the underbelly of society. It follows Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield as they embark on their mission to recovering a briefcase that
...lorida and that he bought a house. He told me I could stay over when I go down there. I say, “okay” just to be polite. He gave me his number and he asked me for mine. I thought “ I do not want to give you my number, are you crazy?” So I told him I had to go to class, I’ll call him when I go to Florida.
Johnny Depp is considered to be one of the greatest actors of the 21st century so far. He is considered to be so because of his ability to transform his character to the point where the audience actually thinks that is who he is in real life. This transfers to his real life as well. He is so good at acting to the point where he does not even know that he is acting. He does not know quite when to return to reality once he is done acting. Which I argue is the main reason why he is one of the best actors. I consider him to be a flamboyant and eccentric style of actor. This allows him to take on many different roles and in return, have an opportunity to star in a wide range of films. He has played many different characters so far in his career such as: Willy Wonka, Captain Jack Sparrow, and Donnie Brasco.
“Hey!” My best friend Nate enthusiastically greeted me one day, “So I was just calling to let you know that I have an idea for how you and I could potentially spend a little more time together. You’re not going to believe this.”
Johnny Depp launched his career with the low budget horror flick A Nightmare On Elm Street. He kept on making films from there (Hawes 8). Johnny won the Golden Globe and screen actors guild award for the best actor.
The great Steven Spielberg once said, “You shouldn't dream your future, you should make it.” His view on life is so positive and inspirational that it makes you think twice about how you’re living your life. He has gone through the worst of times and all he can think about is how it will all be better one day. Known for giving the world generous amounts of money to charity funds, expressing how to be yourself, preserving historic events, and is changing the movie industry forever, Spielberg is the most successful film director of all time. He has been writing movies and TV shows since he was 10 years old. Spielberg's films have been nominated for over 200 major awards and currently has the highest rated movie ever, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial,
My date (we’ll call him Bob to protect the not-so-innocent) arrived at my house dressed in dirty jeans and a T-shirt; I, on the other hand, was wearing a nice black pants-suit. When I asked him where we were going on our date, he replied, incredulous, "Oh. You want to go somewhere?" At this point, I probably should have sent the boy packing, but I replied, somewhat sarcastically, "Yes, that would be nice." I was thinking dinner, maybe a movie; what I got was a drive around our boring town which culminated in spending an hour on a deserted playground where he wanted to make out. When we finally arrived back at my place, he told me he had a great time and asked me if I wanted to go out again. I answered that I would "think about it," as I let the door shut quietly on his surprised face.
In the morning I came to school and I realized that we had a math test today. It would be a disgrace if I failed this test in front of my parents. When I was walking on the field to school I saw my friend and he roguishly punched my shoulder saying “Are you ready for the test?” and as he mentioned that I was quivering as I got to my first class.
Before I left his house I asked him if he had wanted a ride to graduation, due to the fact he was in a car accident four days prior and the only vehicle he had at the moment was his motorcycle. He responded with a polite, "Nah." That's when I knew he wanted to take his bike. When I got home I quickly got ready, I ironed my cap and gown, did my make-up and hair, and made my last phone call to Andrew. I called him right before I left and asked him if he was sure he did not want a ride.
