Gang violence and murder are two factors that contribute to the delinquency that develops in young boys and girls. Violence is seen among juvenile delinquency, where teenagers are victims of violence that exists around their neighborhood or violent acts their peers around them commit. Violence exists in poor neighborhoods where juveniles do not have any money or jobs and leads to them becoming thieves. Caine is a young man that is surrounded by violence and drugs, where he becomes a delinquent due to him growing up in a dangerous neighborhood and being part of a group where his peers murder and steal. Caine lived in a low-income neighborhood, where there were gangs and liquors all over the city. In Caine`s neighborhood, people would fear for their lives and gun shooting would occur in daylight in the streets. The Zone theory can be applied to the neighborhood Caine lived in is zone 2, which is the zone of transition. The zone of transition is where all the juvenile delinquents are more visible to the police because they are people of color and violence is considered a norm in this zone. In zone 2, juveniles are targeted by the police, for example, in the movie there is a scene where Caine and Sharif are handcuffed by police officers where they are beaten and then later dropped off in an alley where they are left in a different neighborhood where Latinos live and the police officers leave them there so the Latinos would beaten them. The police officers targeted Caine because of his skin color and the neighborhood he lived in and would be stop by them with no reasonable cause. In zone 2, juveniles are accustomed to the idea of being stopped by police officers everyday they are in the streets. Police officers also have an influence in making juveniles delinquents because they target them as if they were criminals and juveniles begin to believe they are and start committing crimes. Also, with all the police brutality Caine experiences, he believes he should not leave with Ronnie to Atlanta because no matter where he goes, his life will not change or matter and everything will remain the
