There are many points of view for a writer to choose from such as first person, second person and third person as a result each one has different problems, and effects.The most popular point of view used in short stories is first person and third person according to the story and the preference of the author.”Young Goodman Brown” by Nathaniel Hawthorne is told from a third person point of view compare to “A&P” by John Updike which is told from a first person point of view. “Young Goodman Brown” by Nathaniel Hawthorne tells the story of a young and innocent man who goes into the forest even when his wife named Faith tells him not to since the forest was considered a place of evil in the old times.
