My vision for the trailer was to create a slight eerie and sinister feel. My group felt that the story itself gave an ominous vibe, so we tried to incorporate that in our trailer. We filmed almost every single scene that was in the story, so when I started editing I would have a variety of clips to use. We came up with the idea to use the song “You Are My Sunshine” as the background music, the song recently came out with the trailer of Annabelle: Creation. The song “You Are My Sunshine” was not suspenseful enough because it is a slower paced song, but it still helped produce the eerie feel we were looking for, so I decided to keep the song but add a faster, more upbeat instrumental to the background. I believe the decision of adding a second
As, the scene fades back from black, non-diegetic sound takes place as the background sound source. Sound that hasn't been implied to be present in the action: added for the dramatic effect. The suspense in the scene is constructed from this sound. Furthermore, props throughout this movie are essential, the audience are
In this trailer it shows lots of different camera angles such as over head shots zoom in shots etc. their lighting is very bright and colourful, although when something bad is happening like when the dragon tries to burn them at the beginning it was dark and gloomy. The sound effects included screaming and the dragon roaring. The music was very cheery and groovy once you got to the middle of the trailer but at the beginning it was slow. They used slow motion to attract the audience.
With the trailer the background music has a huge impact on the intensity in the trailer. For example in the beginning it shows the girl going to Mr. Grey’s office and the background music is calm instrumental music but as camera slowly shows his face the music changes to a slowed down version of Crazy in Love by Beyoncé. With that being the part to catch the audience’s attention on why they should continue to watch the trailer. Another thing it does it has the male character telling a back story about his
As the opening credits scroll on the screen, the violins in the orchestra play an anticipatory mood. Almost like a chase is occurring. This music sets the scene for the rest of the movie and the horror that will ensue. The same melody is continued into the first scene just at a slower speed. When Marion Crane and Sam Loomis are in the hotel room
In Monsters Inc., the scene where Mike, Sully and Boo are in the huge room of doors being chased by Randy, there is music that really impacts the scene. Because the scene is very suspenseful and dramatic, the music is very loud and fast-paced. Also, since they keep traveling to different locations through doors, the music changes depending on where they are. For example, when they go through the door that takes them to Hawaii, the music has a tropical vibe and is more relaxing. But right when they go back to the door room, the music again becomes louder and more dramatic, and this repeats throughout the scene.
Our quest to find out who we are is fuelled by the need and longing to find meaningful relationships and a place on earth to which we truly belong. Good morning/ Afternoon Miss Smotlak and class. The common theme of belonging is prominently portrayed through an individual’s interactions with others and the world around them, which can enrich or limit their experience of belonging. Despite having a significant relationship an individual can still feel disconnected to wider society. Despite our greatest effort sometimes a positive resolution is not always possible and individual’s sense of belonging is thwarted. Due to the idea of belonging being such an natural human need it can be seen in texts such as , american actor, filmmaker and political activist Sean Penn’s film ‘Into the Wild’ (2007) illustrating these themes through the true story of Chris Mccandleuss, who grows up in the wealthy Virginia suburbs of Washington D.C only to reject the ways of society and sets of on a lonely journey across the country in order to find out who he is and
music to analyse—in fact, the music runs almost constantly throughout the film without very little
Individuals can create a sense of place where one feels comfortable perceiving at home within a wider society mainly influenced by accountable traits. The implemented contemporary challenges observe on what individual’s perception mainly influences the assimilation of such a foreign society in which enlightens the benefit on rewarding new acceptance and allegiance within a wider community not concerning of certain competition. Poems ‘St Patrick’s College’ and ‘Feliks Skrzynecki’ emphasize the emergence of identity separation and the lost aspirations of affirmed affiliation inside a schooling recognition and a strong cultural origin. Hence, an individuals’ perception is signified to mainly entice the various characteristics of inclusion to operate
The music suited the movie very nicely. By the type of music playing, you could determine what sort of scene was coming up, either fast and light...
Music has frequently been used by directors to strengthen the impact of scenes that are dramatically weak and on the contrary, when music is not needed to strengthen a scene, it can be used for neutral effect and can refrain from drawing attention to itself e.g. easy listening or subtle complementary background music.
The trailer released for the film followed suit, flashing images of violence, guns, and heart-throb Leonardo DeCaprio, in order to grab the attention of the audience. In most cases, people do not realize that behind these scenes lies subliminally transmitted emotion. Through the instrumentation that guides the trailer, the audience’s perceptions of the juxtaposed images are altered. By changing this music, one can change the tone of the entire trailer.
What influences a person’s identity? Is it their homes, parents, religion, or maybe where they live? When do they get one? Do they get it when they understand right from wrong, or when they can read, or are they born with it? Everyone has one and nobody has the same, is there a point in everyone’s life when they get one? A person’s identity is his own, nobody put it there and nobody can take it out. Everyone in this world has a different identity because they all make their own over the course of their life. A person’s identity also causes a person to have masculine and feminine traits. There is no one thing that gives a person their identity, there are however many different factors that contribute to one’s identity.
In the opening scene the song “The Sounds of Silence” plays in the background while we see our main character, Ben Braddock, make a decent into Los Angeles. This song has a very low pitched eerie sound to it and the lyrics help illuminate the theme of this movie. The song starts by saying “Hello darkness, my old friend...in restless dreams I walked alone…” the song is giving a sense of loneliness and misdirection. As though you are alone
The importance of music in movies is highly regarded for manipulating the viewer’s emotions and helping them immerse into the story. Music is one of the prime elements in cinema. Without it a movie would feel dull and unexciting. There are three elements in a movie: one is acting, the second is picture, and the third one is music. It is a holy trinity; if incomplete, there would be a lack of sensation and excitement. Both acting and picture can stand independently from one another, but music is the one that makes the movie memorable.
The first movie scene was a clip from the Lion King; the background music mood was exciting. Almost half of the viewer’s chose exciting for the mood of the scene (see appendix 1). There were 27% that chose other as the mood. 27% also chose either happy, or scared. This data shows that the music changed the mood of the movie for about half of the viewers. The second movie clip was from the movie Despicable Me, the background music was scary.
