Most of the time the reason people have yard sales is to either get rid of things, to clean up or organize, or to raise money. Knowing how to prepare a yard sale is very important because every once in a while, it’s good to get rid of some things. Maybe one’s storage space, or home is beginning to get cramped, and she is running out of space, so she needs to sale some of her belongings. One can set up their yard sale many ways. To set up a yard sale, she should clean out her belongings, price her items, and find a place to have a yard sale.
First, she should start cleaning out everything she owns. This could take many days, weeks, or months, it depends on how many items she possesses. She should generate a ‘keep’ pile, and a ‘sale’ pile.

Everything that she wants to keep will go into the ‘keep’ pile. Most of the things she wants to persist in being are items that could be personal, expensive, or still practical. Everything that she doesn’t want will go into the ‘sale’ pile. Most of these items are no longer serviceable, inexpensive, or not very valuable anymore. One might not think that item is valuable, but someone else might find this item extraordinary. The next thing one would do to have a yard sale is the hardest part.
She must price her belongings. Usually, this takes the most time, because she might not can decide how

much quality that item has. One might have to research that item to find how much it is worth. She should get a marker, sticky notes, and a friend. One should write the price of each item one by one, and place the price tag on each of her belongings. This will save time and confusion.
The last thing she should do is find a place to undergo her yard sale. This fragment should be undemanding. Most of the time, one would have her yard sale in her yard, or her garage. She can only do this if she is okay with having people welcomed onto her property. Some people would rather have it in the parking lot of a business, or at a friends house. Finding a place to have the yard sale should be fairly easy.
Encountering a yard sale should be three simple steps. She should clean out her belongings, price the objects she is selling, and she should find a place to detain her yard sale. If she is planning on having a yard sale, she must do these steps for a successful

The yard in the short story “Everyday Use” is a symbol for the mother and Dee. The story opens and closes in the yard. The yard is a place of freedom for the mother. In preparing for Dee’s arrival the mother and Maggie have made sure the yard has been cared for. The mother does not view the yard as just a yard but as an “extended living room”. The confrontation with Dee regarding the quilts takes place in the house that seems to confine the women, however when Dee leaves the mother and Maggie sit outside in the yard where they seem to let go the events of the day and enjoy themselves.
