To many families worldwide, your dog is not just an ordinary "pet". These are memebers of your family and they deserve the same love, care, affection, and protection as other members of the family. We want our loved one's to be with us each and everyday, and we want them to feel healthy and happy while in our care. Just as you feed your dog high quality food, and provide high quality health care, your dog’s safety is of equal importance.

Nationwide, approximately 50 percent of all children will be bitten by a dog before they reach the age of twelve (DeIorio, “Have a Dog-Bite-Free Summer”). In Marion County, Florida, aggressive and dangerous breads of dogs are a “serious issue” for the community according to Marion County Commissioner Jim Payton (Thompson, “County drops '1 free kill'”). Responsible dog owners seem to be unaware of the problem but area residents who have been victims of these attacks have turned to the Marion County Board of Commissioners for help. The local County Commissioners have been wrestling with this issue since October of 2009 when a widow from Ocklawaha, Patricia McBee, had three of her dogs euthanized after they allegedly killed her neighbor’s cat (Thompson, “County drops ‘1 free kill’”). The need for change moved even faster after a 3-year-old little girl was attacked and killed by a dog that was chained to a tree outside her house in Citra (Lee, “Girl, 3, mauled”).
calculation to illustrate limitations of breed-specific legislation and decreasing the risk of dog bite-related injury.” Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association 237.7 (2010): 788-792.
Commonly targeted breeds are usually judged based on their appearances, rather than actual documentation. Various studies have shown that most of the dogs involved in fatal attacks are of unknown breed, and most of them are intact. Owner responsibility is perhaps the most important aspect of preventing aggressive behaviors. Even though sometimes a dog is properly trained and cared for by his or her owner, there is still the possibility of aggression regardless of breed. The best place to start in order to make the world a safer place for other animals and humans, laws demanding a higher standard of care for animals should be implemented.
In “Wires and Lights in a Box,” the author, Edward R. Murrow, is delivering a speech on October 15, 1958, to attendees of the Radio-Television News Directors Association. In his speech, Murrow addresses how it is his desire and duty to tell his audience what is happening to radio and television. Murrow talks about how television insulates people from the realities in the world, how the television industry is focused on profits rather than delivering the news to the public, and how television and radio can teach, illuminate, and inspire.

Finding and hiring an electrician to do or fix the electrical wiring in your home is not as simple as flipping through the phone book. Many times, homeowners rush into hiring an electrician without doing any background check. They want to get started as soon as possible, and in the process they end up wasting money on an electrician who do shoddy work or charge way too much. If you want an electrician who is good and dependable, not to mention charge a competitive price, you will need to spend some time doing your research. So how exactly do you pick the right electrician? Below are some things you can keep in mind when you are looking for a good electrician.
Dogs have impacted the lives of 44% of American families and homes. People use dogs for much more than just a family friend. Dogs are used for special needs, assisting police, and hunting and tracking. Dogs should be appreciated and never taught to fight or be neglected. Dog fighting is unethical because man’s best friend shouldn’t have to fight for their lives.
The way puppies and dogs are treated in puppy mills is disturbing. To avoid having to clean up after the puppies and their mothers, they are often kept in wire cages. These cages are stacked on top of and next to one another. The dogs below the top of the stack live in conditions where “uric acid soaks puppies lying on cage floors, burns their skin, and paw pads, and causes respiratory distress” (Puppy Mills | Animal Rescue Corps. 1). These dogs do not often receive veterinary care, or adequate care for that matter. Their nails do not get worn down. They grow lon...
As the saying goes, a dog is a man’s best friend. The dog is a loving companion to a man. He is happy to go everywhere with his master. He shows his affection for his master by wagging his tail and licking his hand or face. This timeless relationship continues to evolve into new kinds of human-dog interactions that increasingly benefit society.
Having a dog can be a great experience for people who enjoy their company. These animals are usually friendly and active; they are intelligent and can develop a strong relationship with their owners based on love and care. However, having dogs is a big responsibility for the person who owns them, because they are animals, so they cannot support themselves. Dogs need someone who can feed them, give them love, and someone who can help them exercise. Moreover, these animals need big spaces in order to run and develop their muscles, so the owner has to know that he needs to take a walk with the dog several times a day.
Graham Vest stated, “the one absolutely unselfish friend a man may have in this selfish world….is the dog” at a Missouri trial in 1870, over 500 years after the first instalment of dogs in civil services (Orbaan, 15). Unlike man, canines possess a courageous attribute that does not fail even in the moment of an emergency and will not back down to daily challenges that may arise on the job each day. Law enforcement agencies around the world, both big and small, employ canines to assist officers in the field. Therefore, canine units have become an integral part of law enforcement around the world, yet to be able to detect bombs, drugs, or the like, canines and their handlers, must undergo extensive training to ensure “familiarization” between man and dog and its purpose.
Dogs are bred and born to praise their masters. It is in their blood. Based solely on their potential to cause serious injury to a person, the top five most dangerous dog breeds are the Caucasian Ovcharka, Pit bull, German Shepard, Rottweiler, and the Alaskan Malamute (Josef, 2013). All of these breeds have ancestors. For centuries, canines have been bred for many reasons. Although it depends on the breed type, many breeds were bred to handle livestock and keep them in order. For a dog to handle livestock, they need to be tough to handle animals much larger. These instincts have passed down through generations and into the canines many people own today. When forming ones own opinion about a breed, there are many factors to consider such as breed specific legislation, the individual canine’s past, and the influence of the media.
You want your dog to understand that you are the person to look to when they question what is right or wrong. This is done by being firm, yet kind with the dog. You don't want your dog to listen to you out of fear, but out of respect. Setting boundaries is very important in gaining respect. Sit down with your family and discuss what is and what is not appropriate for the dog to be doing. Perhaps you have no problem with a dog on the furniture, but kitchen entrance is not allowed.
Dogs are wonderful creatures. They are loyal, dependable companions if given the opportunity. In recent years I have come to the opinion that we could learn something from these animals. We should also take a look at the manner in which they are being treated. Abandonment, irresponsible breeding, and neglect are only some of the ways that humans are failing the canine species.
First of all, I work in a restaruant kitchen. If another employee brought their dog to work it could be a health code violation. For example, the dog might eat or lick some food or urinate on the floor. Also, like the second article stated, it can compromise with legal requirements to provide a safe environment for employees. A dog can bite an employee or customer or affect people's allergies.
