Writing Assignment 1: Aura Balancing
Isaiah S. Todman
The Web page suggests Aura Color Therapy can treat depression and chronic anger in a person. For instance, it states that orange color aura can be used to bring color balance in someone’s aura and decrease the amount of blue aura, that causes depression. This can be done by shining colored lights onto a client’s body or laying colored gemstones on their body while they rest on a table. You can also do this for the red aura, which causes anger.
The Web page is making a causal claim. The page claims that Aura therapy can cause feelings of well-being by balancing someone’s aura. The authors of the website use casual verbs such as “changes” and “may” when telling the benefits of
Aura Therapy. The authors cite several kinds of sources for the webpage. But, a clear majority are books and periodicals, which are not peer-reviewed. Additionally, none of the references have experiential evidence to support their claim, they are only personal accounts rather than facts. According to Demarais (2017), several individuals suffer from mild depression during the winter season; due to the lack of color or light. Demarais, Cricket. (2017, April 17). For my Brown Bag Assignment my participant, JR, was found within my family. I was aware JR took daily medications due to his recent heart bypass surgery in June 2015 and met with him. JR is 62 years old and takes seven medication daily. My participant, JR had heart bypass surgery, exactly 4 bypasses, on June 1, 2015, due to 90% of his coronary arteries being blocked. For about two weeks prior to the surgery, he could not walk, felt very dizzy, fatigue, and weak. His legs even gave out and he fainted. He then decided to go to the doctors, got lab work done and found out about his coronary arteries were blocked. If he did not have this surgery, he would have died. This eight-hour surgery was a huge reality check for him. After this surgery, he completely changed his lifestyle by not smoking, not drinking, eating healthy and going on walks. Prior to this surgery, JR had and still has type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol for about five years now. As I was talking to him, it was clear that he knew all his medication very adequately especially when to take it, why he takes it and how to take it. He is also fully aware of healthy lifestyle choices. As we were talking I gave some advice to help continue his healthy lifestyle.
In “Don’t Worry Be Gloomy” David clarifies, “Negative moods summon a more attentive, accommodating thinking style that leads [him/her] to really examine facts in a fresh and creative way”(125). Being sad or angry can lead to better realizing an outcome of something or having a better focus on a task. Seligman and others explains in “A Balanced Psychology and a Full Life” that “In 1946, there were no effective treatments for any of the psychological disorders, whereas now we can cure two and treat another 12 via psychotherapy and/or pharmacology”(Seligman 1993).The point is that the disorders are harmful, but they can be treated by medicines and actions of the

He uses the aspect of health to support his claim for instance, how the "American Medical Association" "has voiced its support for light pollution reduction efforts". In order to illustrate how the reduction of light will help us in the long run trying to convince the audience with beneficial facts such as how this "keeps certain cancers from developing".

While constructing my website my goal was to provide information to the public about affirmative action without swaying or giving biased to one side or another. Affirmative action is an emotional and delicate issue in our country and those who are for or against affirmative action usually have some sort of emotional attachment towards their decision, because of this constructing a website can then be very tricky. I carefully chose what sources I wanted to use for my website and meticulously reviewed them so I did not have an unbiased website based on extremely biased information.

Katharine is then told by his “loving” husband to get ready in her best outfit to meet his dad at his house. The tailor then enters the scene, and Petruchio sends the man to get a bigger cap than he initially brought for his wife. Katharine told Petruchio that she is able to talk for herself, and shows more of a dominant role in the relationship that was not initially expressed before. Then, although Katherine thinks highly of the dress, Petruchio fires the tailor after complaining about the dress that he made. Petruchio decides that it is what’s on the inside that counts, and announces

Burns helped establish a new method of cognitive therapy, and treatment explaining how it works and why it’s different. Cognitive therapy's idea is that depression is not an emotional disorder at all. The bad feelings we have in depression all stem from negative thoughts, therefore treatment should be

Many people think that electroshock therapy was only used to treat mental illness until the middle of the twentieth century. You may be surprised to learn that this radical therapy is still used as a treatment of last resort for certain diseases. The reason is because electroshock therapy, which triggers a grand mal epileptic seizure in the patient, somehow alleviates symptoms of such mental illnesses as depression. No one knows why the convulsions are effective, but they do seem to help many patients.
