I have chosen Epilepsy due to my cousin having this disease and I have a very small case of it myself. This non-communicable disease can be life-threatening for some people. Having Epilepsy requires a lot of doctor visits and daily medications. Epilepsy isn’t rare for people in the United States. Anyone is capable of having this non-communicable disease.
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder where you experience sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness, and is accompanied by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Symptoms with this disease aren’t always all the same. Some may have terrible shaking and lose consciousness. However, others may inquire simple staring spells. Some people may even have sensations such as tingling, odors that aren’t actually there. Seizures have different classifications such as an absence seizure, generalized tonic-clonic seizure, or a partial seizure. Also, seizures can happen differently each time.
There can be several treatments for seizures. The treatments for seizures can range from something as simple as medication all the way up to surgery. Your treatment goes by how bad of a case of Epilepsy you have. Things such as a tumor, abnormal blood vessels, or bleeding in the brain may cause seizures and that …show more content…

The best way to help yourself from possibly having seizure is by taking care of yourself. By taking care of yourself you are eating properly, getting enough sleep, staying away from illegal drugs, and no excessive drinking. Another good way to prevent yourself from having seizures is to take precaution to risky behaviors. Risky behaviors could be whether to wear a helmet or not while bike riding, skate boarding, playing hockey, riding ATV’s or dirt bikes, or anything that you think you could end up hurt on. Always take precaution when it comes to your brain. Something as simple as Epilepsy could make a huge impact on your life
