The first thing I like to do when building a sandcastle is making sure I have the right location, where my fortress will not be too close to the violent crashing of the waves, nor so far that carrying water in my pail becomes tiresome. Then, it becomes all about finding the right ratio of water to sand where it is made nice and sturdy, but does not stick to the inside of the trusty pail. Friends and family usually choose that moment, once you have already done all the hard work, to come along and start stacking up the mushy granules, competing amongst one another for the tallest or the most creative monument. Meanwhile, I busy myself collecting colorful homes that have been tossed from the backs of our oceans’ aquatic residents, now used to decorate any sculptures that catch my eye. In the end, there is no real winner or loser to building a sandcastle, and what stands the highest is the pride we hold in ourselves and the hard work we put in, and how much fun we have together in building what we can …show more content…
As it has been observed over the years, humans grow and develop in ways quite imaginable, and in their wake the world changes to become a land that brings us the comforts which we see as the fruits of our own efforts. However, as a king who is spoilt in his own riches, we too can drown in our good fortune and become blind to what once was, or even is in this moment. With the development in technology, much good has come from it, but that does not mean there have been no adverse effects to ourselves as functioning people who can interact and socialize in a normal community. Technology has made us capable of turning a blind eye to those in our physical presence, and created a new ease in which we can tune out the reality which people had already found many difficulties in trying to accept. Reality now is all that we can see on our screens, watch in a video or gather from ‘social’ forums where any form of etiquette is rarely present; replaced by inappropriate cussing, immature behavior and things which could hardly be seen as a desirable attitude to be found in our blossoming youth. How can we expect ourselves to be able to function when so many have replaced the comfort of others with the comfort of a four-sided, glowing slab of metal? Despite this though, is technology truly so terrible when it helps our elderly and sick to live longer; our disabled to be able to become mobile and visit those they care for so deeply; to act as a voice for those who do not have the courage
technology is more terrible than healthy. It can be used to do amazing things but we often
Working thesis: The advancements in technology have caused the social norms of society to adapt to its rapid change, by becoming captivated to its simple access; which is effecting the way we communicate and act.
In today’s world, we hide behind screens and spew things from our mouths that we would never actually say to someone in person. We will attack each other for the pettiest things in this world. We will expose things that are better off being private. We will humiliate others just so we may feel better, temporarily. We will ruin relationships just because we are jealous of them.
With the entry of technology, humankind built up the capacity to communicate around the world. However, there were many debates whether technology changed the way of socializing with people. Despite the fact that technology has its positive sides, it ought to be found in a negative light. As technology made people's lives easier, they lost their social skills. The problem is that Nowadays' generation is failing to understand the epidemic of communicating via internet and its side effects.
There is no doubt that the technological advances in recent years have changed the way we live. We are now able to talk to people in any part of the world within six seconds, we can watch events from any country such as the Olympic Games live on television screens in our own living room’s, we can even have interactive video conversations through as small a device as a mobile phone. These advances have benefited millions of people worldwide but we have reached a stage where it is now time to stop and think of what is happening to us as a result of all this automation and modernisation; we are becoming over-dependent on electronic devices to carry out simple tasks, we are becoming less and less aware of
Technology is inevitably taken for granted because it is constantly surrounding us. There are many instances when technology and the not so artificial world blur together to form one but unfortunately, it is all too easy for technology to become way too prominent and ultimately take away what was originally there. In “Who Holds the Clicker?” by Lauren Slater, Slater discusses a way in which technology can help people with psychological diseases by implanting electrodes into the brain which set off stimulations, this is known as deep brain stimulation. These stimulations can control the chemicals that effect our mood giving relief to people who have chronic psychological disorders. Technology also plays a major role in “Alone Together” by Sherry
The topic of technology and our society has become a very controversial subject today. Many people believe that technology is an essential component of our modern world, helping us to improve communication from farther distances as well as giving us easy access to important information. On the other hand, there is the opinion that too much technology is affecting social interactions and our basic development. “Technology…is a queer thing, it brings you great gifts with one hand, and stabs you in the back with the other.” (Carrie Snow.) The CBC Documentary “Are We Digital Dummies” displayed the pros and cons when it comes to modern technology that we use in the western world everyday.
Although Though technology can be good, it can be worse than good, such as people always with their faces on their phones and headphones in their ears, people neglecting books and using more online text, and people wasting their lives watching TV.Children now know how to use a phone faster than they can

The ability for people to surround themselves with the familiarity of their comfort place by using their technology is appealing because it rarely provides the user with something unexpected or unfamiliar. By constantly being cut off from personal interactions and new experiences because of a technological device. A generation with substandard social abilities is being groomed. If we do not have to face reality by experiencing new things, making personal relationships, and problem solving, then we will never be able to function as Humans. Technology hinders personal communication, which negatively impacts our lives. Although “our culture heralds the Internet as a technological wonder, there are suggestions that Internet use has a negative influence on individuals and their social skills,” (article 1) Data shows that those who use the Internet frequently spend over 100 minutes less time with...
Technology is unavoidable in our modern lifestyle. You wake up, you use technology; you use technology while cooking, while eating, while driving. While you’re lying in bed before you fall asleep, you use technology, technology wakes you up in the morning. Is all the technology around you good for you, or is it harmful to your health? Was our society healthier or safer before all the advancements? So many questions and concerns about all of the technology we crave, but there are very few people who know the answers. Technology affects all parts of human life. It can create jobs, motivate people to get active, and assist people in learning, but this does not balance out that there are dangers that follow the use of technology.
Over the last century, information technology, such as the Internet, has brought our society forward and helps us get through life more efficiently and conveniently. In addition, it helps making global communication easier and faster as compared to hand-written mails that may take days if not weeks to reach its intended recipient. However, with such luxury and convenience, there is a debate whether the way we currently interact with fellow human beings with the help of technology is good or bad to our personal relationships. The Internet has increased the amount of communication globally, yet ironically the very technology that helps us increase our communication hinders our ability to socialize effectively in real life and create a healthy interpersonal relationship.
This article is relevant to my paper because it asserts that through the use of technology, the quality of interpersonal relationships is diminishing to an unacceptable standard.
Technology has changed the way society interacts with one another. While technology has allowed society countless means of social interactions that weren’t possible 50 years ago, and has allowed people to sustain long-distance friendships that would have otherwise ended, the fact remains that technology is still taking over human interaction. Many may argue that this change has been positive. However, there are those who believe that this is one of the numerous social disasters when it comes to technology. It is believed that the changes are ruining the quality of social interaction that we all need as human beings.
Technology has brought us closer and squeezed the distances, but in reality, it has taken us away from each other. The rapid growth of technology has brought about significant changes in human lives, especially in their relationships. The latest technologies have turned this world into a “global village” but the way humans interact with each other, the types of relationships and their importance has changed a lot. The advancement in technology has brought us closer, but has also taken us apart. In the past, the means of communication were limited.
