The first thing I like to do when building a sandcastle is making sure I have the right location, where my fortress will not be too close to the violent crashing of the waves, nor so far that carrying water in my pail becomes tiresome. Then, it becomes all about finding the right ratio of water to sand where it is made nice and sturdy, but does not stick to the inside of the trusty pail. Friends and family usually choose that moment, once you have already done all the hard work, to come along and start stacking up the mushy granules, competing amongst one another for the tallest or the most creative monument. Meanwhile, I busy myself collecting colorful homes that have been tossed from the backs of our oceans’ aquatic residents, now used to decorate any sculptures that catch my eye. As it has been observed over the years, humans grow and develop in ways quite imaginable, and in their wake the world changes to become a land that brings us the comforts which we see as the fruits of our own efforts. However, as a king who is spoilt in his own riches, we too can drown in our good fortune and become blind to what once was, or even is in this moment. With the development in technology, much good has come from it, but that does not mean there have been no adverse effects to ourselves as functioning people who can interact and socialize in a normal community. Technology has made us capable of turning a blind eye to those in our physical presence, and created a new ease in which we can tune out the reality which people had already found many difficulties in trying to accept. Reality now is all that we can see on our screens, watch in a video or gather from ‘social’ forums where any form of etiquette is rarely present; replaced by inappropriate cussing, immature behavior and things which could hardly be seen as a desirable attitude to be found in our blossoming youth. How can we expect ourselves to be able to function when so many have replaced the comfort of others with the comfort of a four-sided, glowing slab of metal? Despite this though, is technology truly so terrible when it helps our elderly and sick to live longer; our disabled to be able to become mobile and visit those they care for so deeply; to act as a voice for those who do not have the courage
