Every year thousands of students graduate from college with some kind of degree and try to pursue a successful career. One career that students seek out the most is the field of engineering. To become a successful world class engineering student I have to set a variety of goals, build community bonds, have a strong academic background, and develop myself on a professional level. The first step to becoming a world class engineering student is to set a variety of goals for yourself. Setting goals, whether they are long term or short term, help an individual stay focused on the task at hand. By setting goals an individual is able to allocate time and resources to complete their goals. A world class engineer sets goals in order to distinguish …show more content…
Once I graduate with that degree my goals of having multiple job opportunities, earning a good salary, and having the ability to create something extraordinary become a reality. To reach these particular goals I need to set and achieve smaller goals so I can become a world class engineer. All of these goals depend on me earning and graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. After setting a variety of goals for yourself, the next step to become a world class engineer is to strengthen and clarify the purpose of their goals. To achieve success in the engineering field, engineers have to set goals and be committed to accomplishing those goals. One way to be committed to your goals is to write them down. Writing down goals helps an individual stay focused on what they need to accomplish. By writing down your goals you not only strengthen your commitment to them, but you are able to come back to them to clarify the purpose of the …show more content…
Since engineering has so many applications and requires different functions it takes constant effort to understand what engineering is. Engineers have to understand how different machines work. Whether it is through reverse engineering or the engineering design process, the more a world class engineer understands how machines work, the better an engineer they will be.
As of right now I have little to no knowledge of what engineering is. In order for me to understand the essence of engineering I need to be a problem solver, have hands on experience, and research engineering. I can improve upon this by actively reading engineering reports on www.ihs.com so I know what current engineering projects are going on. Also, since I need hands on experience I can volunteer for research projects and actively pursue opportunities where I can improve upon my engineering
Engineering and technology as people think is not the easy area of study, but it is always demanded the most in the future because that field is not everyone’s cup of tea, and you need to have a very good focus and time management planning skills for that. You always stand different in the crowd if you can work and make a career in that particular field.
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
Goals such as getting a high GPA or even to pass a certain class correlates to being able to learn in school. When my Freshman year came around my goal was to do well in school; I began educating myself in and outside of school. Settings goals had me acquire knowledge and that is one of my experience of education.
Engineering is the application of scientific, economic design and a wide range of other specialized fields of engineering. As an engineer, there are four major different areas of engineering work that I can concern about, that is chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Beyond this four, sources separate to other main branches. Based on the electrical engineering is concerned with the basic forms of energy that run the world, there is a hopeful future in taking this major as my direction of future. However, what exactly is the benefit of this major; am I suppose to choose this major; what kinds of job opportunities that I am able to get and various of other questions are what I concerned the most.
In order to succeed in life you must set goals for yourself. If you never set goals or learn from your mistakes you will never push yourself to greater standards. One major goal of mine is to graduate with straight A’s the whole year! I am a single-minded person so when I want to achieve something I will try my best because I always like to succeed. I will work to achieve this goal by studying as hard as I can. I will also always pay attention in school and always ask for help if im confused. This task overall can make me smarter and ready for highschool.
Goal setting is key in motivation; goals need to be clear, sharp, and realistic. To make these feel more achievable it is better to break these down into smaller medium-term goals and medium-term goals into short-term goals so that you have a clear connection between what one does every day and their long-term goals.
Engineering has been a key interest of mine since childhood. While still in grade school I enjoyed listening to my father, an electrical engineer, teach me about advances in technology, and was always eager to hear more. I was introduced to my first computer at the age of five, and have loved interacting with them ever since. My decision to study engineering as a career was no surprise to those who knew me.
Setting long-term goals can be confusing. Students can become stressed while setting these goals- but trying again is crucial to success. Scholars cannot give up; they should absolutely have long-term goals. Setting long-term goals is necessary because having an incentive to look forward to will keep students motivated.
Learning is a continuous process and the day that you stop learning is the day that you start decreasing your rewards and lower levels of satisfaction. My ardent desire to acquire knowledge has motivated me to pursue higher studies at graduate level, and to take up a career in research in industry. I have taken this decision after carefully considering my academic background, profound interest in research and strong aptitude for problem solving. Banking on an excellent academic record coupled with a keen interest in the ever-growing field of science and technology motivated me to take up engineering.
The use of the computer has had a positive impact on manufacturing engineering in many ways. Engineering is a term applied to the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences, gained by study, experience and practice, is applied to the efficient use of the materials and forces of nature. The term engineer denotes a person who has received professional training in pure and applied sciences.
There are many virtues are relevant to engineers, including intelligence, decisiveness, hard work, carefulness, and being a team player. Virtues require practice, and it is important that engineers continue to grow throughout their careers and while they are in school. While we may have not explicitly defined what it means to be a virtuous person until the final year of school, we have unknowingly started to develop our virtues and traits throughout our time in
When designing products, they may start to just sketch out the idea and then after a couple of sketches, he or she will start to use a Computer-Aided drafting program. After a product has been built, they will preform a quality assurance check on the product. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2015) says, “Employment of mechanical engineers is projected to grow 5 percent from 2014 to 2024, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Mechanical engineers can work in many industries and on many types of projects”. As technology advances so will the number of engineering jobs in the workplace. If you have a mechanical engineering degree you are able to work in many environments from the rail industry to the aerospace
Engineers are valuable assets to any company because they think analytically. Engineers may advance to become technical specialists or to supervise a staff or team of engineers and technicians. Some eventually become engineering managers or enter other managerial or sales jobs.
...ineering with first-class honours is my ultimate academic goal. After that, I am planning to further my study in PhD and make a research about the microstructure. It is easy to set the target but to achieve it need a lot of work and sacrifice the time and money. Strategic planning and full preparation needed to make the dream come to reality. I always tell myself that I have a potential to reach the target, and it is not impossible for me. To motivate me, I do read articles about the successful people as it may give me an inspiration and encourage me to be like them or even more.
In the most basic sense, engineering means “making things happen.” It is the practical application of science and math, the two subjects I am most passionate about, to solve everyday problems. It opens up a world of opportunity to create innovative technology that influences many aspects of people’s lives, this giving an individual the power to make a difference. While I am deeply interested in the subjects that are the foundation of engineering, in addition I have many other personal reasons for pursuing civil engineering in specific. I am motivated by my desire to fulfill my lifelong goal of creating purposeful infrastructure, to make all of my family proud, and to prove that not all engineers
