Women were a big part of history in the Revolutionary War. Women such as Molly Pitcher who was famous for taking the place of her husband when he fell. Women helped the wounded soldiers, made food, cleaned and cared for all the soldiers as if they were family. The women in the Revolutionary war had to step out of their comfort zone to help their country win. These women saved lives, showed such compassion to the army and definitely made a stand for women's rights in becoming equil. Women helped bring America “to the deliverance of their country”(discovery education) and devoted their lives to freedom. When we think of the Revolutionary war we think of men fighting for our country, but we forget about what the women did. “Our ambition is kindled by the same of those heroines of antiquity,... who have proved to the universe, that… if opinion and manners did not forbid us to march to the glory by the same paths as the Men” (DiscoveryEducation). In other words this article is telling us that if society did not think so poorly about women and their rights and if no one judged them doing men’s work then they would have equal rights, and no one would judge them for fighting for their freedom. If we think about it if there were no women to help in the war many soldiers would have died, and possibly lost the war. “I glory all that which all my gender has done great and commendable” (DiscoveryEducation). Before the war most women were thought to be fragile and elegant, but the war made people have more respect and think higher of women. Women weren’t supposed to fight in a war society thought it was a man’s job, but Molly Pitchers husband fell to the ground while the fighting was going and Molly stepped in and loaded the cannons
