So are women better than a guy in a males sport? For example a girl might be better than a guy in football and wrestling and a guy might be really good at softball or volleyball. Women can play a guy’s sport for many reasons: everyone is equal, girls have different body structures, and men and women fight in war side by side, so why can’t they play side by side in wrestling or football?
Coed Teams
Coed teams are really popular at young ages. Remember at an age when there was a football league for the kids. It had both girls and boys playing together without a problem. Some of the girls were even better than the boys. Those girls were the ones that wanted to go farther with their football career and play throughout their school year, but they get to high school and they are told that they can’t play because she is a girl.
In 1999 a girl by the name of Katie Hnida was the kicker for the college team of Colorado. She was really good at it too. But one day she went and told people that she was raped by one of the teammates. Once she came out four more girls did to. They pressed charge...
This case involves a sophomore at a high school named Christine Franklin, who alleged that she was sexually harassed and abused by a teacher and sports coach by the name of Andrew Hill. These allegations were occurring from 1986-1988, a total of two years. These allegations included Hill having explicit conversations with Franklin, forcing her to kiss him, and forceful intercourse on school grounds. Franklin claimed that she let teachers and administrators know about the harassment and that other students were going through the same harassment. The result of telling the teachers and administrators was that nothing was done about the situation and even encouraged Franklin not
Coed sports have been argued for many years. There have been many examples in today's sports that support the idea of coed sports. Some have already even taken actions to do so. An example of these actions is, the girl who pitched in a Little League World Series game. Sports should be coed because they promote gender equality, build friendships, and increase self-confidence and pride. When boys and girls play together in sports it makes the competition more exciting to watch.
People think some sports are perfect for men, like football, soccer, and wrestling. They think men can play better than women play. During the game going, men sports can attract people to watch, more exciting, more fun, more attending. We have a good example of some men sport can make more people to talk about it. Like men’s world cup. Most of people want to watch, get exciting about the world cup final. The whole world will put the world cup as the media headline. On the other side, can anyone say who the champion on last women world cup was? I think majority people don’t even know who the champion is. Some people could do some google search of that, otherwise no one cares about the champion. Except the men world cup, some people can name all champion lists from the first time to now a days. This why women sport always look down a level compare to men sport. On the other side, girls’ sports have other point of view of that. For an example, volleyball, can be play in both gender. They have both different strength points on both sides. Men have power and taller so they can easy get a point. However, women have softer than men, so they can struggler more on 1 point. Sometimes, if the sport struggler in a point. It could make more people interesting and attract them to
When people talk about the impact of women in professional sports, they mention one huge concept: Marketing. Marketing to women is a tremendous source of profit for professional sports, but the impact of how women would respond recently became knowledge. However, now the marketing programs of the different professional sports, including the NFL, need to change their approach on marketing to women. Because the NFL still lacks sales to women compared to other professional sports in America, the NFL needs to change their viewpoints on the experience of women in the stadium and the variety of merchandise available for females.
Christy Brzonkala was allegedly raped by Antonio Morrison and James Crawford. After multiple school hearings found Morrison guilty, he appealed his punishment of a two semester suspension and the school found it “excessive.” Brzonkala eventually dropped out of school.
In 1994, a student at Virginia Tech University, Christy Brzonkala, claimed that two other varsity football students, James Crawford and Antonio Morrison raped her. One year later in 1995, she filed a complaint against Morrison and Crawford under Virginia Tech's Sexual Assault Policy. Antonia Morrison was found guilty and he was immediately sentenced to be suspended for two semesters from Virginia Tech, but Crawford was not given any punishment. Then, due to an appeal, Morrison's punishment was set aside as well, because it was found to be excessive. After this happened, Christy Brzonkala dropped out of Virginia Tech. Right after, she decided to file a lawsuit against Morrison, Crawford, and Virginia Tech in Federal District Court. She alleged
For the most part, women are considered prominent over men, which causes women to act in a certain behavior in which will function to get them to events such as frat parties. In today’s society, women are constructed to act well mannered to which they greatly differ from men. According to the Women's Sports Foundation, they claim that paying men more for the same sport gives women in the sport less incentive to push themselves and discourages future female participation in the sport. Which is true, why would women want to play the same sport as men and get paid less money?
Gender in sports has been a controversial issue ever since sports were invented. In the early years, sports were played only by the men, and the women were to sit on the sidelines and watch. This was another area of life exemplifying the sexism of people in which women were not allowed to do something that men could. However, over the last century in particular, things have begun to change.

Since sports and athletics have been brought into our society it has always been gender specific. For example, it is seen that males should be playing the rough and tough sports or athletics such as rugby and football, whereas the women should be participating in less competitive sports and athletics such as swimming, or running. Can you imagine that the world population of women is around forty-nine percent and they still aren’t given the same opportunities or respect as men? Being a women in the twenty-first century playing one of those “non-traditional” sports is a tough task for these women. The women who choose to do so are usually questioned about their sexuality and
There are two different viewpoints on this issue. Some people simply think there can be gender integrated sports, while others think gender segregated sports are better. Deborah Brake explains arguments for and against segregated sports teams. Some of the concepts brought up for having gender integrated sports teams is that having separate sports teams would send out a message that women are less than men. Integrated sports teams accommodate both genders and abilities.
Back in the history of soccer, women participated in the "mob" games which were often played by a large number of people around neighboring villages. "When I started refereeing, girls teams were only 25% of the sport while now approximately half the players
In summary, Despite opponents argue, fans want to see thunderous dunks and incredible athleticism over the lesser abilities of females, male competitions is more intense and there is more at risk, and male driven associations produce more revenue than female driven associations. It is apparent that male and females are built differently therefore they have different abilities, females go through the same types of events and often have more on the line, and female athletics aren 't given the same recognition or praise. Then, maybe one day female will receive the same amount of pay as their male counterparts. As, Vera Nazarian once implied, “A woman is human. She is not better, wiser, stronger, more intelligent, more creative, or more responsible than a man. Likewise, she is never less. Equality is a given. A woman is human.”
For most of human history, athletic competition has been regarded as an exclusively masculine affair. Women weren't aloud to watch most sporting events let alone participate in them. Not till late 19th century did women really begin participating in sporting events. Although women were permitted to participate in many sports, relatively few showed interest, for a variety of social and psychological reasons that are still poorly understood. Title IX declares: "No person in the U.S. shall, on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal aid." Therefore sex should not deem females athletic ability as inferior in comparison to men. Women are physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of playing any sport just as men are.
Ann, 2007, pg. 57), however this is not true. This mentality causes males to resent the female athletes, thus rendering it even more difficult for them to succeed. Without a shift in gender ideology, females will continue to face adversity, regardless of the amount of change that has occurred over the last 30 years. There does not need to be equality between the genders within sports, however equity must be seen, with the perception of the abilities that female athletes possess not being compared to that of males. This would aid males to not feel as threatened by females participating in sports and physical
