Many times when we hear the word Rede we automatically jump to the Wiccan Rede, however the word Rede has been around much longer.
(3)The word Rede simply means counsel or advice. A guideline of how a person should behave. If I may quote from a reference:
Janet and Stewart Farrar: "The Rede is the philosophy of taking responsibility for your own actions during every moment of your life. It is of course a positive Law as opposed to the negative Laws of the Old and New Testaments. This immediately makes it a life affirming statement, but also means having to think about all your actions and what effects they will have on yourself, other people, society as a whole and your environment, not just now but also in the future."(3) (1)"Rede" is derived from an Old English word "roedan" which means to guide or direct. One common version of the Rede is: "An it harm none, do what thou wilt."(1) Wiccan Rede was written or conceived in the early 20th century, although its exact source is unknown and disputed. It's core maxim is: if you harm none, do what you will.
The Rede, in my opinion, is our way of following rules. To be honest, that's pretty much all I know about the Rede. To me, the Rede is like a bible that fits in

Like any laws, there are consequences of the Rede is broke. I can't say what, because that has still been left to discover. I am actually finding a good source of research on this subject. Without the Rede, I Dont doubt there will be a big mess of things. From what I have learned, the Rede actually does protect the Wiccan pathways. I disciverex that in one of my hunts for what the Rede really meant. Studying and adding this into my pathway is something I defiantly need to do. I need to know the history, where the Rede came from. Who made it. Why it was made. In fact, I am certain I answered some of these questions while doing

The Salem witch trials had a drastic affect on the Puritan religion. The trials helped shape and point the direction for the New England Colonies and the Puritan religion. The Salem witch trials outbreak began in 1692. In the past, there had only been about five convictions of people being accused of witchcraft; none of this resulted in any deaths(Wilborn 16). Usually just a fine was given, but by the end of 1692 there was already 150 arrests (17). Whether you were rich or poor, it didn’t seem to matter, anyone and everyone was being accused. No one felt safe at this time (Trask ix).
Nancy Ammerman writes Sacred Stories, Spiritual Tribes: Finding Religion in Everyday Life to convey her findings of studying spirituality and religion in the ordinary life of her sample population. The inspiration for this book came from previous data about Christians and the “Golden Rule,” the concept of treating everyone how you would like to be treated (3). In order to understand this concept better, Ammerman decided to study religion and spirituality in everyday life. Her population included 95 people from the Boston and Atlanta areas. These participants came from “Catholic, liberal Protestant, conservative Protestant, African American Protestant, Jewish”, Mormon, Wicca and Neopaganism as well as an internet chat group (11). Unaffiliated participants were also

Wicca is a spiritual path, a way of seeing the world and Divinity, and our relationship to it. They believe that Goddess is imminent in the world around us. Goddess permeates every living thing, and most of them define rocks, soil, water, air, fire, and the plant herself as living things. "The God of Wicca is the Horned God, the ancient God of Fertility: the God of the forest, flock, and field and also of the hunt." He is Lord of Life, and the Giver of Life, yet he is also Lord of Death and Resurrection. http://www.interlog.com/~spawn/gods.html
...f empowerment; making the religion commonly depicted as a Matriarchal religion. Those of the Wiccan faith, also choose not to believe in predestinations because they see everyone as having control their own lives, and destiny’s, depending upon their actions. The most crucial point to the Wiccan faith is the basic, principles that must be followed; which includes the threefold law that states anything they do whether- good or bad- will come back to you times three; then there is the Wiccan Rede that is the outline of the Wiccan faith; to practice Wicca as you will, but to harm none in the process. Wicca has had a long history of being seen as an evil and unkindly religion; hopefully, it can now be recognized by the public that Wicca is actually a peaceful and natured centered religion that neither contains Devil worshipers nor blasphemes against the Christian faith.
Anyone who practices a historically accurate Witchcraft knows this is hub-flub and not even accurate in the least. Confounded and concocted 'rules' and 'moralities' of Witchcraft and it's practitioners is very modern
The Wiccan religion is one of the fastest growing religions in the United States as well one of the most misunderstood due to the controversies surrounding its history and mystery shrouding its beliefs and doctrines. Due to a series of popular TV series that have shown Witchcraft in a positive light, such as Sabrina, the Teen-aged Witch and Charmed, the popularity of Wicca has grown, especially amongst teenagers; but sadly this popularity has not been partnered with a growth in understanding and respect (Kaminer). Although Wicca offers a nature-oriented, egalitarian belief system with a rich collection of customs and rituals, ignorance and historically-rooted misconceptions still dominate public opinion.
...urt of Appeals ruled that Wicca is a religion deserving First Amendment protection. The Internal Revenue Service has recognized Wicca as a legal religion, and given a tax-exempt status. Laurie Cabot founded the Witches’ League for Public Awareness. The American Civil Liberties Union came to the legal aid of witches arguing in court in 1999 that a Wiccan high school student should be allowed to wear the symbol of her faith to school.
The color red has many significant meanings. It often symbolizes passion and desire but also anger and violence. In the novel Ethan Frome the color red represents not only the desire Ethan and Mattie have toward each other but the anger and stress his current marriage with Zeena is under. It also represents enthusiasm and confidence but in this case the lack of these qualities in the marriage.
Sagoyewatha commonly known as Red Jacket was an outstanding orator born in New York and according to many, Red jacket was a fervent defender of the Native Americans. Several documents assert that Red jacket was very forceful and extremely vocal when it comes to defend the religious values the Native Americans against the invading oppressors. It must also be noted that Red jacket was one of the most brilliant orators of his time. Red Jacket praised the Native American culture, religion and other customs. He eloquently reject the superiority of the foreign values s imposed at them when he stated the following “Brother, the Great Spirit has made us all; but he has made a great difference between his white and red children; he has given us a different
Glinda the Good Witch directs Dorothy to the yellow brick road, explaining that it will lead her to the one person who can get her back home to Kansas. Her journey begins amidst cheers and song, as she skips down the Yellow Brick Road she could not see or possibly anticipate all the test and trails that will be encountered along the way…and it did not take long for the Wicked Witch of the West to rear her ugly green face!
Witchcraft has been around for centuries, and it was called many things before settling on the name it has currently.
To begin with people think red is a Christmas color because it is the color of Santa’s suit, “Red is also the color of Bishops robes. These would have been worn by St.
According to Hutchison (2015), “religion is symbolic patterns that consists of values, beliefs, behaviors and experiences” (p. 184). I personal conceptualize spirituality as a vital role in my life that helps me during a time of sickness, forgiveness, and needed guidance. Spirituality helps guide me throughout life during the difficult times I have encountered. Spirituality impacts my life in positive ways that influence and regulate my behavior and health. Health is very important to me; I believe the spirit can heal a person from their sickness. It seems that the spirit heals me every time I pray to be healed from sickness. The spirit gives me strength at a time of weakness. When I feel at my lowest point in life I call on the spirit to pick
