Something that grinds my gears would be, being asked rapid fire questions. I absolutely hate when I come home from school, and I’m instantly greeted at the door by being asked “how was your day?”, “do you have homework?”, “what did you do in school?”, “do you have golf tonight?” All within the time span of one minute. The reason I hate this so much is because I feel like i’m being interrogated, I am not a criminal I do not need to be questioned like one. My mom is usually the one who does this, and I always ask her to stop before I get too upset, but then she always ASKS “why?” which just makes the whole situtation go down hill. She is not a detective so therefore she does not need to interrogate me as if she was one. Yes, I know this is dramatic
but it’s honestly my biggest pet peeve. This happens in groups of friends, and during interviews too. For example the game 20 questions, will never be played by me because it irks me. Being asked several questions all at once, and being expected to answer them all within a timely fashion is very frustrating to me, making that my biggest pet peeve.
There's nothing I hate more than school. Wherever you look; the halls, the cafe; the classrooms, all you see is phonies. Always fixing their hair, wearing their perfect clothes and perfect shoes. Carrying their goddam perfect purses. They make the already terrible school day even worse. Even the teachers are phonies. All of them, especially my 4th period teacher. I don't even know her real name. We just all call her old Doc. Boy, did I hate her class.
Many politicians and public figures had shared their opinions about the campus carry law, William H. McRaven a for Navy SEAL, and former commander of the United States Special operations forces who raided and directed the killing of Osama bin Laden, and the chancellor of the University of Texas opposed to having weapons on campus. A man who has many guns and has a love for many guns, says that it will not make campuses any safer than they are now. McRaven also was a public figure that joined with the interest groups and stated why he thought the weapons on campus would not be a good idea. Texas senator Brian Birdwell, who is a republican, the bill’s chief architect, and a retired Army Lieutenant agrees with the campus carry on law. Many universities
Since the time we are born until the moment we die we are taught to follow a specific routine in our lives without questioning the why or the consequences our actions bring. During that course humans tend to become so familiar with our routines that when an unexplained incident occurs, we panic because it is something we’ve never been exposed to, an example to this are the killings of innocent people whom we care for in environments where security and education are supposed to be the priority. In our eyes campuses are supposed to be protected by those who wear uniforms and are trained professionals that are ready to deal with such situations, so why allow a law that will grant any civilian the right to carry guns on campus,
There might be a lot fewer Americans who need to seek others forms of public assistance.Due
The question of the century is whether higher education is worth the price and everyone feels like they have the winning argument. The article I have chosen to write about that pertains to this subject is by Charles Murray and it’s called “Are Too Many People Going to College?” I chose this article because I feel that the author brings up valid points that resonate with me and my beliefs towards going to college. Charles Murray attacks the specific issue of whether there are too many people going to college. Murray using different viewpoints shows how he believes that too many people are going to college and I agree with his reasoning.
Nicole Johnson*, a 22-year-old senior at an area university looks back at her college experience as graduation approaches, generally happy with how everything turned out, however, a dark cloud still looms over her freshman year when she was raped.
Over the past years of getting a college degree was the pathway to get a settle career. College has been a reason for people to carry on after high school. Now that tuition has been raised, getting a degree seems to drain students with more loans and could be in debt. College has been raised to the point where people rather start working at a minimum wage than continuing with school. Working on a part time job would be an easier choice rather than pursuing towards their degree. As people attend college, fees build up and students loaning money and possibly be in debt. Not only that, some may say college isn’t worth it, but it is. Getting a degree pays off at the end going towards your career path, making twice as much as you would work at a regular job. Students who have received a degree are slowly declining. To make adjustment, College should be free for
How bad has cheating become over the years, the numbers in some cases are mind-boggling. In today’s day and age the amount of college students cheating is numbered to have maintain a steady figure of about 75 percent. (Lang, 2013) Cheating has been around since the beginning of time, some of the reasons behind most of the prolific cheaters are centered on what seems to be three main issues plaguing our society. Cheaters be it young or old, all seem to have what I call the “Big Three” in common. In my research on cheating, there were three things that continued to stick out, such as; procrastinating, the pressure to make the grade and it is easier to cheat rather then to do your own work. To the answer the question why college students cheat, we must first understand why, in order to find a solution on how to help avoid this continuing going forward. After reading this paper you will see that cheating has become prevalent in college, caused by a need to get better grades with less original work being done eventually the ends don't justify the means.
Should IPU totally ban alcohol on campus? Some student finds it is hard to answer that question, and most of male student would answer “it does depend on the situation and the mood bro.”. It is not a secret that alcoholic drinks could make a person feel better and more relax especially for a man, if he experiencing depression or stress males often hangout with their friend to overcome their struggle, even I used to drink alcohol sometimes whenever I had problems with my school life, relationship or if I fell under pressure. Even though alcoholic drinks can have some temporary stress relieving benefit, alcohol has plenty of bad side effects for individual and their social environment. Most Universities ban alcoholic drinking on their campuses, but some campus still allow student to drink alcohol in designated areas or for certain events, like our beloved IPU campus for example. Beside the fact that IPU already provide events (e.g. Ball party) that allow student to drink certain amount of alcohol, it is still common for students to break the rules by drink alcohols in the dormitories. Therefore this essay will cover the pro’s and con’s that will be discussed about this topic.
In the past years, several schools and college campuses have suffered many shooting attacks, killing innocent people who just want to become professional and finish their careers. Those shooters have been caused by other students that might have personal or mental problems that make them think that they can solve their problems by shooting and killing people. This is why many people are arguing about the second amendment, if guns should be allowed on college campuses. Some arguments are: students are going to be more secure and they will be able to defend themselves in case that someone starts shooting. However, there is also a large amount of people who believe that if guns are allowed on college campuses there would be an increase of
Australian school teachers should absolutely NOT, under any circumstances have access to any sort of firearm at school.
When I was young, I was sexually assaulted. This fact is also true for all of my immediate family. Unfortunately, this experience doesn’t work like chicken pox. You don’t experience it once, and then it never happens again; every day I continue to run the risk of being assaulted. All people, especially women, run this same risk. Unfortunately, the risk has grown with the fact that I am in college.
If the President of Salem State University called me into her office for my opinion on abolishing the “no gun zone/weapons” policy I would be for keeping the policy. As a college student who lives on campus, I would terrify if our school allowed students to carry guns. A lot of crazy things have happened in dorm rooms and college students tend to experiment with alcohol and drugs. I have seen students run through walls and punch holes into ceilings. If anyone those students had a gun I do not even want to imagine what would happen. Students can not be trusted to properly hid away firearms and such a small living space there is only so many places they could hide away such a weapon. I would not trust a single student who owns a gun in a college dorm room
There is many arguments held in a college setting about politics, that can effect college students and here are a few. Should colleges in the United States be allowed to accept undocumented students into their college? Should college be a free education for the students attending? Should college allow free speech for what students believe in? And lastly, should politics even be involved in the college setting? These questions will always be asked when attending a college or university, but what are the pros and cons of each question? What is the correct option, we may never know but the debate will always still be there for college education.
Have you ever wondered how many people carry guns on college campuses or maybe have one in their dorms or vehicles? People believe that it is necessary to carry guns on college campuses, those people are the ones that feel they need guns to feel safe. Shootouts normally don’t happen on college campuses, but when they do, they are horrifying. Many people are injured or end up dead. Due to all the shootouts on college campuses and the people that are injured during the shootouts, guns should be prohibited.
