Do you ever wonder why women decide to abort their pregnancy? Is there anything that is more frustrating than knowing that you can’t do anything about it? In the United States, there are approximately 1.21 million abortions every year and 3,315 every day. Also, in the entire world there are forty-two million every year and 115,000 every day. This is a superfluous amount of innocent lives taken. Abortion is badly affecting our society today. People in huge numbers feel it to be evil as it kills an unborn for no reason. Conversely, others believe that it is a woman’s legal right to choose abortion especially in case of incest, rape, or health issues threatening the life of a mother. To kill unborn using dreadful procedures is not only wrong for the doctors to perform, but morally wrong too. Let’s look at some reasons women say they decide to abort their unborn child. It all started in the late 1800s when women healers in Western Europe and the U.S. provided abortions and trained other women to do so, without legal prohibitions. By 1880, most abortions were illegal in the U.S., except those necessary to save the life of the woman. Today, abortion in the United States is legal, via the landmark case of Roe v. Wade. A shocking number of ninety-three percent of women have an abortion because of social problems. Maybe the mother is a single parent, or is having marital problems. Although, the number one cause of abortion is the unborn child is unwanted. Another cause of abortion is health problems of either the mother or child. The mother may have a disease or sickness that would risk her life during labor. Also, the child could be born with a disease that may cause long term effects later in his or her life. In my opinion, abortion should be illegal because as soon as a baby is conceived they have a heart
