A student’s education is an extremely controversial topic. A majority of society cannot agree on what the main role of education is. However, when a teacher ran a poll in the article Why We Still Need Public Schools, the majority stated that it is to help fulfill a student’s potential. School should improve social conditions, which was stated in Why We Still Need Public Schools and The Purpose of Public Education and the Role of the School Board. Social conditions can come particularly easily to some children, while others struggle with them. Some students do not understand proper social queues or normality’s, which can lead them down the wrong path in the future. These social queues go long past your free education. These social queues are used in the work place, group gatherings, or even at a store just to name a few examples. Schools should be teaching their students how to interact properly with their peers so they can take …show more content…

In modern society, money is everything. If you need anything, you have to pay for it. Schools are required to provide education for children, so that way the poor and middle class could become prepared to get a good job. In the article, Why We Still Need Public Schools, “Adults 18 and older who completed high school earned an average of $28,645 in 2004—about 1.5 times as much as the average of $19,169 earned by adults who lacked a high diploma. Adults with a bachelor’s degree earned almost 1.8 times as much as those with just a high school diploma.” So, while some schools do not teach a class on how to properly fill out tax forms or how to save money, school is still teaching students how to obtain good jobs and educating them to get those said jobs. Both of these examples show how education fulfills a student’s potential by getting them a job and teaching them social skills which are both used outside of a classroom setting, and in everyday
