Why We Shouldn T Animal Testing Be Used In Biomedical Research

Biomedical researching can be very harmful to animals, but many other people think biomedical testing would not harm animals. Animals are always used for research and are put in harm from being used as test dummies. Animals are not given a choice to be tested they are put into research labs for only the benefit of human health. Some people believe animals should be used for testing, others believe animals should not be used for testing even though it may benefit themselves. Biomedical research can be used for benefiting human health, but instead of using animals for research they are other alternatives like microdosing (Prycoft). Animal testings can cause many animals to be in more harm than they were already in. Researchers cause harm to animals …show more content…

In addition, animals get placed in a cage and are being put in tremendous amount of harm. Animals being used for research get badly mistreated and suffer from what scientists do to these creatures. Scientists put these animals in so much discomfort just to be used for biomedical research and they suffer from these testings. These creatures are supposed to live in the wild not feel discomfort by scientist who bring danger to them. Scientist just put animals in danger and misery for the benefit of human health, and the scientist do not even care about what they are doing to these creatures. For example, a video was released by the Ethical Treatment for Animals showing a scientist who was cutting off a goat’s leg for research and the researcher just whistled as if he did not hear the goat screeching in pain (Bever). Another example showed that these chimpanzees …show more content…

Animals are put in harm for no reason when a treatment or cure fails. Research may not work on humans but can work on these creatures, so testing is not able to work. Testings are not always effective and can cause research on animals to be insufficient. Research that fail cause risk to both humans and animals. If the treatment or cure fails creatures are being put in harm for no reason because the treatment is not always able to work. Critics were mentioning that animal research may not always work because there are differences between humans and animals (Gorman). Since there is a difference in body systems from humans and creatures critics said animals are not a good model for biomedical research (Pycroft). Chimpanzees and humans share ninety eight percent of their double helix, but that two percent not shared can cause the testing to not work on humans (Gorman). Biomedical research fails to work on humans nine out of ten percent of the time then on animals (Pycroft). If biomedical testing would work on humans and not cause any harm to these creatures then many people would support the research. There are other alternatives than just using animals as technology has increased so there are other models instead of these creatures. To sum it all, biomedical research is not always effective on humans when trying to find a cure or treatment as there are other
