There were several factors that played into why I chose to attend Truett-McConnell. I have played soccer since I was five years old and ever since I started I had a dream to play college soccer. My dream was to play soccer at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. My aunts, uncles, both grandparents, mom, dad, and now older brother have all attended Samford. Going there would have been fantastic but God had other plans for me. For soccer players if you are wanting to play in college you must get picked up early by a college coach. It is hard to get recruited if you are not on a high-level club team. I was on a region team and traveled everywhere for games so that I could get looked at from several different schools. Samford was watching me …show more content…
My heart was set on Samford University. I wanted to go there so bad that I was willing to be red shirted and sit on the bench probably until my junior year. I really thought God wanted me to go there. It made since for me to go to Samford. My big brother was there, my dream of playing division one soccer in college would have come true. My comfort, fimilarness, and family were all at Samford. As hard of a decision that it was, I had to let either coach know by the summer before my senior year. My parents helped me and prayed with me. I finally went up for my last visit to Truett-McConnell before making a final decision. I stayed the night With Meghan and Brooke when I visited. They really gave me an idea of what life would be like at Truett and how welcomed and loved I really would …show more content…
My thought process was all jumbled up because that is not true. Not many athletes get the opportunity to play college soccer. Weather it is Division one, division two, division three, NCAA, and or NCAA, the thought of even playing at either one of those levels is a blessing and a gift from God because not all athletes can even make it to those levels. There is hard competition in any sport to play at those levels. I remember being ungrateful at one point because I was so stubborn and blind to the fact that God did not want me at Samford. I now am so grateful and blessed that God gave me four more years to continue my soccer career at
However, I believe God has lead me to Pepperdine to discover my true calling. Pepperdine will challenge me and help me discover the vocation God has planned for me. Pepperdine also had the tools to help me pursue my own personal career goals.
...Selecting a college to attend was a lengthy process. I applied to four different schools. I outweighed all the pros and cons of each college. The ultimate goal was to persevere and graduate with a degree. As a high school student, I think I found Ohio State appealing because of all the hype that surrounded it. Once I came to the conclusion that I wanted to go into the medical field, I realized that I needed to be in an atmosphere where I could maintain my focus. Nonetheless, the most consequential influencing factor was regarding finances. Case was extremely expensive but I received a substantial amount of financial help compared to Ohio State. In addition, I was fortunate to obtain a work study job that helped with living expenses. I knew that college would not be easy especially given Case’s reputation. In the end, I am confident I made the correct decision.
Almost all colleges have friendly classes or teachers that understand the stresses of the student athlete that has to practice and study. But they do not understand the young man or woman who works full time and is trying to make a better life for themselves. These teachers are selected by the coaches and ADs as the teaches to have. These friends of the program will make sure that a student is eligible to play. These teachers will also sometimes waive assignments and even allow slacked attendance. Were as when the average Joe misses he will loose credit and not be allowed to make up missed work.
UTK is a the university that I want to attend because it will give me a great opportunity to be a success student, and because the city it is located in is a beautiful place and has different social opportunities. Also because the school spirit and everyone there feels like your
Most college athletes, when they were young children, dreamed of playing for a college team. For them that was their passion and their greatest dream/ accomplishment. College athletes are there because they love to play the sport that they do. They love the thrill of the game and winning o...
Soccer, is more than a sport and more than a hobby, soccer is life! Soccer is the king of sports all over the world. It's my childhood hobby, I have been playing soccer since I was 3 years old. ...make time to study, be involved in college campus activities, work part-time and participate in athletics in order to succeed. Not having to deal with the pressures and status of being a paid professional will allow the student-athlete to focus more on the sport than on all the legalities of the sport. Leaning to set goals and achieve them as a student-athlete will help them become a well rounded individual.
I spent a whole year in Florida in a military boarding school. I learned to become independent, good grades and it was a wonderful and unique experience. I wanted to go back to my country, I missed my family and wanted to graduate in the school that saw me grow and I did.
Sports are an easy activity to participate in, which every passionate high school student hopes to get a college scholarship for. The University of Michigan scouts for well-rounded students to enroll within their school who participate in activities in and out of school. It would not matter if a high school student was on a travel soccer team, but was not on the varsity team at their high school. This is because colleges look for those who participate in sports within school and have excelling grades. Although, the University of Kansas looks for high school “graduates that participated in many activities both in and out of school” (Berkowitz). It is not whether students decide which college to attend solely by their own decision, but it is the college’s preference in whic...
Soccer the most popular sport in the world, since is the sport with more active players with around 270 million athletes. By having registered so many players, it’s not surprising that this sport has more fans than any other sport worldwide. Every team looks for a player that moves the ball, and that creates plays to score. This means a person that pass the ball through the entire game. To pass the ball in a proper way is one of the main skills a player needs to play soccer. Passing the ball, keeps the game going. Without being able to pass the ball accurately to your teammates, more than likely your team won’t be able to score a goal. The key for passing is to keep things simple. This means passing the ball to your nearest teammate that is not marked by an opponent.
I was pretty sure I wanted to go to the University of Oregon, but I still left my options open, and boy did Caleb not like that. He thought that since I was looking at out of state schools, that meant that I didn’t want to be with him anymore and that it gave me an out to break up with him. He is so cute and funny, I was only looking at these other schools to maybe be able to do sports at them to help pay for school. In the end I got an amazing scholarship to go to any state school I wanted which was great! But honestly, I knew I was going to stay in Oregon because I love it way too much to leave it and I know that I wouldn’t have made it if I didn’t get to see Caleb as often as I did.

American Football is not merely a sport, its a culture. In the south football is in some ways a lifestyle. From the rivalries to the championships its truly one of the most exciting sports to have ever been created. This is why I love it so much, it is much more than just a game it has a much deeper meaning to it. From the outside looking in, many people do not fully realize the impact it has on each and every player throughout its history. Football has made me who I am today.
Many families enjoy going to sport events together. That is, if the Dad likes sports(*wink wink*). A sports game is a place where many different families go in to watch as one family. But as soon as the game starts, it’s not many different families watching the game, it’s one big giant family. Out of all the soccer matches that me and my family have been to, one match stood out than the others.
