Why Should Immigrants Be Deported?

Deportation is something that affects every single immigrant, whether legal or illegal. It is the process of moving from one country to another. Either an immigrant goes back to the country they were born in or they deport to a new country. One of the main issues that is occurring right now in politics is immigration regarding deportation. Part of the government think that immigrants need to leave. While another part says that immigrants should stay because they benefit the country. Thinking that immigrants do nothing for the country is just simply not the case. Immigrants should not be deported because, they have made a living in the U.S., they help boost the economy, and they have terrible situations happening in their home countries.

In Miriam Jordan’s article it discusses how the U.S. is planning a mass deportation of central American due to the increasing number of Illegal immigrants. The article also states the reason for why these central immigrants left. It states that “The number of families showing up at the southwest border has spiked in recent months as gang-related violence grips El Salvador and Honduras. The region also has been plagued by drought.” (Jordan par. 4) They did violate immigration laws by entering the country illegally, but they were desperate and felt there was no other option than to sneak in. Immigrants also leave their country due to persecution. Just as the Nazis did the Jews, Isis is torturing and killing Muslims to feel superior over them. Lipka in his article says, “Combined with the ongoing impact of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria and other extremist groups that commit acts of violence in the name of Islam, have brought the Islamic faith to the forefront of the political debate in many countries.” With all the terror that is going on in the world, the U.S. needs to be willing to help people around the world. It is true that some immigrants that come into this country illegally. According to the article “Which undocumented immigrants should we deport” it describes that the top three undocumented immigrants that politicians are looking to deport are “(1) undocumented migrants, evading an immigration checkpoint and/or without proper documentation; (2) illegal non-immigrants, people who overstayed their visas; and (3) illegal immigrants, who are long term residents, but violated their visa by committing a crime.” (Orozco par. 2) Violating the laws is wrong and should not be tolerated, but most of these people have committed not committed a violent crime against anyone. In the same article it points out that “…for years that these foreign nationals, despite their violation of civil immigration law, commit proportionally fewer criminal offenses than U.S. citizens.” American people are the problem with our growing crime not immigrants. They for the most part uphold all the laws in the U.S. and spend time working not committing crimes. The American government need to reconsider who needs to be deported and who obviously need to
