The thesis is the most important part of an article, it controls the subject matter so it stays clear and precise.The main objective is to summarize the main point and the importance of the essay. The first essay, “Editorial Opinion: The Arizona Sentinel editorial board: March 15, 2013” thesis is the positive effects of amnesty for the United States immigration problems. In the second essay, “Immigration Sophistry” by Thomas Sowell, the thesis is the laws placed in this country should be recognized and enforced for everyone who is a citizen, legal or illegal.
Dr. Sowell is very well aware of deportation problem, and deportation is also presented in the piece from the Arizona Sentinel newspaper. Both authors talk about how deportation is nearly impossible. In the first article, the supporting evidence that I thought the best were the five reasons why amnesty should be allowed. It takes the issues at hand and gives a reasonable and logic answers to each problem. It opens up the eyes to the people who disagree with the immigration policies. The essay written by Sowell, had one piece of evidence that stood out and made me really think twice about our laws. The statement “No cities announce that they will provide "sanctuary," so that American shoplifters, or even jaywalkers, will be protected from the law. But in some places, illegal immigrants are treated almost as if they were in a witness protection program.”, this is a great example that sums up the differences between illegal laws and immigration laws. The main reason for this is if an American breaks the law, they do not have to live in fear that they will be harmed or hunted down. On the other hand, there are many who are prejudiced toward
